Liel Abda, a star of Maccabi Petah Tikva, is on his way to becoming a player for Celtic, the Scottish runner-up. Already last night we announced that Celtic are willing to pay for Abda 4 million euros for about 80% of his ticket and this morning (Tuesday) ONE learned that his sale to the Scots is on the verge of closing and should close in the next 24 hours. The one who closed the whole deal is international agent Dudu Dahan.
Abda who is in France will make his way to London today and from there will continue on another flight to Glasgow, apparently arriving only tomorrow morning to Scotland to complete his move. The striker was also wanted by a number of teams from France and at the same time had other league offers, including Belgium, when Club Brugge were among those interested, but he will eventually reach the luxury club from the British Isles.
As you may recall, about half a year ago a slave was close to being sold to Dynamo Kiev, but the deal fell through at the last minute. Afterwards, Olympiacos from Greece were also interested in the player, but the matter did not mature into advanced negotiations and finally, if there is no last-minute change, he will arrive in Scotland.
Abda will join a short and respectable list of Israeli players who have moved to the Scottish luxury club. The first to reach the green-and-white uniform was Eyal Berkowitz, who played for the Glasgow club more than 20 years ago. The other was Biram Kiel, who came to Celtic in 2010 and played for the club for 5 years, during which he became a valued, significant and loved player by Celtic fans.
Nir Bitton, who arrived at Celtic in 2013, is still at the club and he will welcome Abda, and Hatem Abdelhamid, who played with Bitton for about a year and a half, managed to return to Hapoel Beer Sheva a few months ago. Rami Gershon also moved to Celtic for a short period of about six months. Of course this is not the only player in the Premier League who goes directly to Celtic and in previous years so did foreign players like Apa Ambrose and Ismaila Soro, they were also Dahan players.
I’m going to give this one a thumbs up due to age and potential.
Disappointed the Vuskovic one seemed to be just murmurs. Him and Starfelt as two centre back options to partner Jullien would satisfy me with the central defensive personnel.
Was thinking yesterday that the board are leaving Ange hanging out to dry if they go into the Midget Land game with such a depleted squad. Two project players from the Owls are the only additions to date, if my recollection is correct. Amidst those articles @Rocko posted, Ange is directly quoted identifying right back, centre back and wing as areas where we need to strengthen. So I tentatively back the signing of this little Israeli chap I’ve never heard of. That right back from Rennes also seems useful. There were weekend reports that nothing was imminent on Starfelt until there was clarity on Ajer’s future. I imagine we’re holding onto Ajer until after this first CL qualification game at least. We might even hold on further if we progress, but he’ll surely leave in August. Can’t recall if it’s been mentioned, but Christie contract (quite bizarrely) expires in January and not at the end of the season. So he’s going to be away this summer for a nominal fee or else he’ll do a pre contract with someone.
As much as we need centre backs in, it makes sense to be playing Ajer now anyway. But it can all change with another bid for him and we’ll then be left chasing targets we’ve pissed off already.
Exactly mate. You’re finally coming round.
It is crystal clear that either our scouting or our biscuit tin is not up to scratch. We simply cannot attract any major developed talent anymore.
The mcjockstrap ultras are next best.
If we can’t beat the huns, we need to be lowering the blade.
fuckinh hell
Liel Abada. he can’t be more than 20 and I remember he made his international debut there v montenegro in the summer.
So he plays for Maccabi Petak Tikwa who are not in the Israeli big 4 but say in EPL parlance would be like say Everton in that they are steady but usually offload players to maccabi tel aviv.
my son was also born in petak tikwa.
Lads, this is classic Dudu Dahan now tho, a club in Israel even MTA will only take anyone on a one year deal but if Dahan can get a 4 year then he has something to play with if the player wants to return home next season.
I’d imagine the dynamo Kiev story is all Dahan as would have orchested Manor Solomon’s move from petak tikwa to shaktar…and Solomon obviously is doing very very well with goals v Royal Madrid, etc…
my concern, this fella is very young, very light, its important as well that he has Nir Bitton or someone to look after him… Ofir marciano is gone to PSV now I think so he isn’t around, a lot of these fellas would be flakey enough,
scoring goals v hapoel raa’anana is one thing on a warm evening but getting clattered by Ross County is something different…
