Celtic Transfer Window Summer 2021

According to Transfermarkt.co.uk (not sure on their reliability but I’m not spending long on this)
Kieran Tierney
20/21 2927 mins
19/20 1769 mins
18/19 3429 mins

Kristoffer Ajer
20/21 3993 mins
19/20 4383 mins (last league games not played)
18/19 3470 mins

I think we can park things there now

That’s pretty definitive

50 posts and no actual signing

And no hint of any either. :rage:

Ange’s post match quotes today didn’t suggest anything was imminent either.

Might it be a product of a new CEO with no football experience coming into a football department/structure that’s not fit for purpose?

Still, flash some cash and sign a few cunts. The squad’s been decimated.

I’ve pointed the way.

Total as ye say ‘footix’ comment here, but where is Daniel Sturridge and could he do a job?

I thought Gerrard would be in for him with the Liverpool connection.

Would the league be a bit attritional for him at this stage?

Gerrard wasn’t very complimentary of him. Reckoned he wasn’t willing to play through the pain. He’s training away on America now. No sign of anyone offering him a deal

Ah sound, was wondering what the story was with him. His hamstrings I think it always was. I remember Robben and Larry Corbett with the same shit and they found a regime that worked, don’t think Sturridge ever did.

His latter time with Lpool, I remember Carragher on MNF saying he couldn’t run.

Sturridge wouldn’t play if he had a headache.

He was never the most robust but the 2014/5 season finished him. Hodgson called him up for an England squad while injured to “test his resolve”. This led to a series of niggling muscular injuries that they tried to resolve with an operation in America at the end of the season. Pace was gone after that. Showed flashes under Klopp but couldn’t be relied upon and also didn’t suit Klopp’s style.

Just watched Premier League years 2013/14 and Peak Sturridge was fantastic.

He was brilliant at his peak. but it’s Billy Bremner, Ron chopper Harris, Norman hunter, and, wash my mouth out with soap, Duncan Ferguson we need, not Darren Anderton.

If you’re picking a hard man who wasn’t plagued by injuries Duncan Ferguson should be near the bottom of your list. Erratic and injury prone.

One of the top two Scottish left backs

And liable to end up in prison

I didn’t really mean it mate.
I think they’re all a bit old now. At least one of them is dead.

All credit to Dom McKay - only a few weeks in the job and he managed to find Dudu’s number on the Rolodex Pete left behind.

CELTIC have joined the race for ÂŁ3.5million Israeli winger Liel Abada.

The 19-year-old is poised to quit Maccabi Petah Tikva for a big-money transfer abroad.

Belgian and French clubs have already made offers for the frontman, with Greek side Olympiacos also keen.

But Israeli sources last night claimed Celtic have now entered the running to land the teen sensation.

Abada, who is just 5ft 6in, stood out for Petah Tikva last season as they finished fifth in the league.

He scored 12 goals and almost joined Dinamo Kiev in January before the transfer broke down.

Abada made his Israel debut against Montenegro in June and has been given the green light to quit his club.

Reports in his homeland claim he has now left the country to hold talks with interested parties.

It’s understood Israeli agent Dudu Dahan has been given a mandate by Petah Tikva to secure a transfer.

He has worked closely with Celtic before on deals for Nir Bitton, Efe Ambrose, Beram Kayal and Ismaila Soro.

New boss Ange Postecoglou has admitted he urgently wants to sign a winger in this transfer window.

The Aussie favours a 4-3-3 formation, but he needs more options in the wide areas as he plots a rebuild.

James Forrest, Mikey Johnston and youngsters Karamoko Dembele and Owen Moffat are currently in his squad.

But Scotland star Forrest has yet to feature in pre-season after being forced to isolate due to being a Covid close contact.

Johnston is just back after an injury-hit campaign, while Postecoglou won’t want to place too much pressure on the other two.

Speaking last week, he said: “We have a lack of depth in areas. You look at centre-back, wingers and at right-back.”

Despite being only 19, Abada has picked up decent experience for Petah Tikva, playing over 70 first-team games, and was promoted to the senior national side after just five Under-21 outings.

Abada replaced Israel star Manor Solomon in the Petah Tikva side when he moved to Shakhtar Donetsk for ÂŁ5m in 2019.

His style has been likened to the tiny winger, who is now being eyed by Arsenal.

Abada normally plays on the right but can operate on the left or through the middle.

Celtic face a race against time to register any new players for next week’s Champions League opener with FC Midtjylland.

The Uefa deadline is July 15, but quarantine restrictions will also complicate matters for foreign signings.

Rubin Kazan’s Swedish defender Carl Starfelt emerged as a target last week, but the Russian club have yet to accept a bid.

Celtic are also aware of Rennes full-back Brandon Soppy, but face fierce competition from France.

And Bologna are in no rush to sell the Hoops’ other defensive target, Aaron Hickey.
