Celtic Transfer Window Summer 2021

Can you see any diamonds in the rough you think we could realistically coax from page 2 onwards here @Fulvio_From_Aughnacloy ?

Jovetic would be well worth a punt for a 2 year contact.

Fitness/injury concerns Iā€™d roll the dice on him if Edouard is off, similar enough in style to Edouard too.

Dragovic would be a good option at centre half. Howe would probably be interested in Cook also. Willems could be an option at left back.

Izquidero from Brighton could be another.

The Turner Stadium club have a lengthy shopping list ahead of the summer and understood to be keen on recruiting at least four or five new players.

Israeli national team midfielder Bitton is understood to be one of them, with one outlet in the country claiming HBS will make an approach for the player.

Bitton, 29, is under contract with the Hoops until the summer of 2023 but with a new manager taking charge this summer and the fall-out from a trophyless season, there could be a lot of comings and goings at Parkhead during the off-season.

Meanwhile, Hapoel Beā€™er Sheva remain interested in Hibs goalkeeper Ofir Marciano, who is set to leave Easter Road when his contract runs out at the end of the campaign.

An initial offer is believed to have been rejected by the 31-year-old shot-stopper but talks between the two parties will continue.

Marciano also has offers from Scotland, according to a source close to the player. No teams are identified but the former Ashdod ā€˜keeper was linked with Celtic earlier this year.

"Ofir will need a long contract that will secure his future,ā€ the source is reported to have said. ā€œThere are more offers from Scotland and he hasnā€™t ruled out staying in the country. It all depends on the offer.ā€

Hapoel Beā€™er Sheva are also said to be keen on former Celtic and Brighton midfielder Beram Kayal but the 33-year-old is expected to remain at current club Bnei Sakhnin.

Celtic wonā€™t have 11 to field at this rate.

Would you guys take a punt on Roberts this season for Ā£2-3m?

Really seems to have lost his way the past few years but thereā€™s a player in there and heā€™s still young.

We need a few hardy bastard journeymen from lower EPL/championship level football.
Eddy is going to Leicester by all accounts, so we need a spine who will park the bus, fight and lower the blade whilst we rebuild, ideally with genuine speed on the flanks.

I think we need a proper manager most of all.

Donā€™t think journeymen will really cut it.

We need a couple of Vinny Jones whilst at Leeds types. Hard men. Need to steady the ship badly. Agree re the manager. This has gone on too long really, though marry in haste repent at leisure as they say.
Most decent journeymen are actually

  1. Tough as nails
  2. Completely committed
  3. Leaders.
  4. Actually extremely talented

Some goal by Roberts there.

We didnā€™t need that type of player when Rodgers took over. What we need is a professional setup and quality players.

Iā€™d argue we are in a far worse state now. Rodgers also for most of his reign didnā€™t really have a resurgent sevco to contend with.

Ye play in Scotland you realise mate?

Itā€™s still pretty much the same core of players that were there when Rodgers left. The only difference is the way they have regressed under the current management.

And sevco have improved considerably, are better organized, more unified and better funded

Yes but thatā€™s fair enough. If we hit 93 points and donā€™t win the league then itā€™s tough luck.

This is the bit I donā€™t get ā€¦how did this happen?last year people were saying theyā€™ll go bust ā€¦now they are better financially than Celtic ??

Dunno mate. One of lifeā€™s mysteries.

For that kind of money its a no brainer. Although different types of player Iā€™d much rather any money was put towards Roberts fee than Elyounoussi for example. Roberts was a real Celtic winger, last season was effectively ruled out with injury

Lundstram? Out of contract this Summer I believe

Yeah. Roberts makes things happen. Elyounoussi is a player that flatters to deceive but if you just glanced at his stats youā€™d think he was a lot more influential.

Roberts can be a big player for Celtic if he sorts out his fitness issues and gets his confidence back.

Elyounoussi is also a nightmare to spell.

I think at this point, Rodgers should do us a favour and offer Ā£30m for Ajer and Edouard and conclude this early so we can start the rebuild project.

Iā€™d like both of them. Roberts would need to be cut price to justify it but heā€™s worth a risk for a low outlay. Be a last chance for him really.

What we donā€™t need is a group of Championship journeymen or ā€œhard menā€ who canā€™t play football.
