He was linked with the huns last week. I can’t see him being interested at the money we’d offer and I’d be surprised if we had any interest.

Probably not ready for Celtic 1st team but there is dross in the team so maybe he is
Scales has all the hallmarks of a project signing. Seems bizarre, we have Welsh, Murray and Hjelde as young, unproven centre backs. It’s relatively low risk but we need quality, not bodies.
He is 23 so for him he would want to be in the 1st team squad. Celtic have a recent history of ruining young Irish players

Is he any better than Welsh though?
Hopefully it works out well but the more things develop, it’s becoming clear that the board have no intention of addressing any of our issues and the biscuit tin mentality and papering over the cracks is all they want to do.
I guess his performances in Europe are a plus
I think if we are signing him, we should immediately loan him to an SPL club. Let him get a full season of games under his belt and see how he goes.
In terms of centre backs we currently have:
Jullien
Starfelt
Bitton
Welsh
Urhoghide
Murray
Hjelde
Only 2 of those are probably first team quality and one of those is long term injured. We need quality at the back.
We’re out of the CL, lost the first game in the league and the board are refusing to spend, refusing to back the manager with players.
If I was Ange, I’d be thinking of walking and if he isn’t been backed then I hope he is as the board will be getting it heavy then for their blatant mismanagement.

Hes more a left wing back, but has played a lot on the left side of three centre halves as well

I think Scales is far more likely to be looked at as a centre half than full back. He’s left footed which is an advantage.
For me we need to ship out two centre halves on loan. I think two of Urhoghide/Welsh/Scales should leave on loan to an SPL club and see how they do. I’m utterly convinced Urhoghide is an absolute dud.
I don’t think Jullien, Starfelt and two of Bitton/Scales/Welsh is good enough for us at the back. We need another proven centre back out there. We also need a pair of full backs and a keeper.
I’d actually be willing to give Ralston a go as a back up right back until January anyway. I was delighted for him with the great goal he got midweek, he has his limitations but he’s been one of our better players so far and his attitude is very good.
Scales I see as one of those project signings. When we signed McGinn and McCourt, both were probably older than Scales is and both probably played their entire first season in the reserves bar a few cameo appearances here and there so I really can’t see him cracking the first team.
I’m not overly against his signing but it’s a further cause for concern when this is the type of signing being announced with such pronounced issues. We’re being linked with a washed up, error prone, egomaniac keeper who has hardly played in 3 years, a free agent crock and a LOI player. It’s like the board are doing everything in their power not to take our current situation seriously.
