Celtic Transfer Window Summer 2021

Youā€™d easily sell him for a couple of million in a years time. Heā€™s an excellent keeper.

A 34 year old free agent isnā€™t going to command a transfer fee in a couple of years. And it would be lunacy to sell him in a year if he played well anyway. A nonsense strategy.

Iā€™m not saying that you should sell him but if it comes to it youā€™ll make profit or heā€™ll be an excellent player.

Hart is worthless and a terrible Player.

Generally, most of the avoided transfer fee ends up with the player if theyā€™re good and have a good agent. Celtic may have him trying a leg for the second half of the season, but at a cost of 20 million.
Ibrahmovic for example as a free agent to manyoo cost not only Ā£350k per week in wages, plus add ons and quite possibly his tax bill paid, he was also on a million pounds a goal.

Yeah but thatā€™s what Edouard could be waiting on. Heā€™s obviously not going to command that level but it does open up the possibility of getting higher wages and potentially getting higher wages from a club that couldnā€™t afford to pay 20m this year.

Iā€™d much prefer to sell him but can understand his reluctance. The only potential upside is that he tries to prove himself to win a lucrative contract somewhere. And thereā€™s no reason he canā€™t rediscover his old form because heā€™s an outstanding talent. Itā€™s just not happening for him, whether thatā€™s confidence or form or fitness or attitude or all of those.

It looked last year like he scored goals despite his effort rather than because of. He reminds me in some ways of viduka. Looks a bit lackadaisical when heā€™s in a huff, but brilliant when he decides to play, unlike Larsson, who was absolutely brilliant all the time.
If he stays fit, and Ange can get him on board, heā€™ll be dynamite, but itā€™s 15 million or so lost if he runs down his contract.
As things stand, he just looks like he wants away.
I suspect the bigger the club on the current global stage, the better heā€™ll do . Like you say, heā€™s an outstanding talent

Hjelde going to Leeds. Not unexpected but bit of a strange one from him

Murray looks a decent prospect when he fills out

Ange Postecoglou is set to ramp up the Celtic rebuild with the capture of Ā£3m Croatian ace Josip Juranovic.

The Hoops boss is closing in on the 26-year-old Legia Warsaw right back ā€“ who has been told he can leave Poland if the price is right following his sideā€™s Champions League elimination.

Parkhead chiefs are also working on a Ā£7m deal to land Leuven frontman Thomas Henry as the Postecoglou revolution gathers pace.

The Celtic gaffer has been chasing Royal Antwerp defender Aurelio Buta but the fee is rising with Everton entering the race while Burnley are set to pick up Sheffield United target George Baldock in a deal worth up to Ā£8m.

Postecoglou has turned his attention to Juranovic ā€“ who starred for Croatia at the Euros, including in the 3-1 win against Scotland at Hampden.

The former Hajduk Split star has been a smash hit in Poland since his arrival last summer but Legia are looking to cash in after tumbling in to Europa League this week.

Celts are chasing several targets and remain in the hunt to land Man City centre back Ko Itakura on loan, with the 27-year-old ā€“ who is a Japan teammate of Hoops striker Kyogo Furuhashi ā€“ impressing in Holland after being farmed out to Groningen.

Postecoglou last night remained tight-lipped on transfers but he admitted heā€™s hoping to have a couple of new faces on board for next weekā€™s European action.

He said: ā€œThereā€™s always a possibility and I live in hope. Weā€™ll leave it at that.ā€

Postecoglou is focused on incomings instead of departures and heā€™s not bothered if Odsonne Edouard sticks around to see out his contract next summer.

The French ace ā€“ who should shrug off a knock to face Jablonec tonight ā€“ is eying a move but wonā€™t jump at the first chance, with Brighton still swithering over a Ā£20m bid and the manager admitted Hoops chiefs will be more worried about landing a fee.

He said: ā€œThere is a concern there around cashing him in, but those are probably questions for other people.

ā€œIf it means he stays here and contributes then so be it. That is stuff that I am not really spending too much time thinking about.

ā€œThere are certain things that are out of my control that Iā€™m just not going to waste time during this hectic period thinking about it.

ā€œMy total focus is getting the team ready for these games, playing our football which is not easy and needs a lot of attention from me and the staff, and also working on bringing players in.ā€

Postecoglouā€™s sights are on Jablonec at Parkhead tonight and finishing the job to set up a Europa League play-off clash with AZ Alkmaar following the 4-2 first leg win.

He said: ā€œIā€™d be very surprised if anyone is complacent in this place at the moment.

ā€œWeā€™re far from being a team where we can sort of relax at any stage.

ā€œWeā€™re just beginning. Weā€™ve had a couple of good performances but for me itā€™s about being consistent in our football and in our approach.

ā€œAnd thatā€™s a long way away. I donā€™t think there will be any complacency and I guess if anyone does when they walk out in front of 60,000 I think that will snap them back into making sure thereā€™s a concerted effort to build on what weā€™ve started.ā€

Postecoglou wants to maintain momentum on the back of Sundayā€™s 6-0 demolition of Dundee.

He said: ā€œItā€™s fair to say Sunday had a positive impact, for sure.

ā€œObviously the result was great but the performance was also encouraging because it had elements of the kind of football we want to play.

ā€œThereā€™s an opportunity to build momentum because of the circumstances. The last two games have obviously gone well.

ā€œBeing a European fixture with a full house, itā€™s a unique set of circumstances that we want to take advantage of because I think if we can have another positive performance and get a positive result it creates a good atmosphere moving forward and gives everyone encouragement ā€“ the players and our supporters.

ā€œIt is a good opportunity to do that.ā€

Meanwhile, the return of Gordon Strachan to Celtic in a consultancy role will be reviewed by the SFAā€™s professional game board over fears it breaches strict rules surrounding dual interest.

The 64-year-old Dundee technical director is heading back to Parkhead as an advisor with a remit to oversee the youth and womenā€™s sides ā€“ without giving up his Dens Park remit.

The Daily Mail state neither made the SFA aware about the unusual arrangement and the governing body will now look to see if the double role breaches Article 13.

The rule states any person ā€œinvolved in any capacity whatsoever in the management or administration of a clubā€™ can not be involved with another club at the same time unless they have ā€œthe prior written consent of the boardā€.

Thereā€™s a lot to think about hereā€¦a few posters should read it carefully and reflect on how their behaviour might be considered racist.

Right Back
The Japanese Centre Back with Jullien getting Fit
Scales
& the Big Pierre type

add that to the players that Lennon ruined being good again & the new signings already there

things are looking good

you would wonder who signed all the duds last summer compared to now. Ange Japanese connections obviously involved

Thatā€™s all fine and well but until the scourge of racism is cast from our midst talking about soccer seems futile and silly

Need a left back and another wideman too IMO.

A loanee as a right back that we have no chance of signing is yet more evidence of the board not backing Ange.

Itā€™s short termism, itā€™s penny pinching. Itā€™s so disappointing.

Weā€™ll see. Itā€™s just a rumour. Weā€™re still linked with other right backs too as recently as today. We have to get so many players I donā€™t have a problem with a loan or two as long as we invest properly too.

Hopefully we sign a proper one. Loan deals are putting your finger over a leak. Itā€™s not going to fix it and just going to leave a problem position down the line.

If Juranovic or Buta are available for 3-4m then itā€™s a no brainer we should be moving for them.

Buta would be interesting because heā€™s as much a winger as a full back. So be might be a hybrid right sided player we could bring in and still buy a right back. Three out and out right backs does seem excessive

What I was thinking is if we are doing inverted wing backs then having a right footed left back is probably not a bad thing.

Just have to trust in Ange mate. He knows his mind.

We havenā€™t signed anyone in around 10 days since Hart and McCarthy. We need to get another few in ASAP. Can we add an unlimited amount of players to the AZ Alkmaar squad as long as others drop out? Or are we limited to only adding 1?
