Celtic Transfer Window Summer 2021

It looks like the energy is back ā€¦Lennon seemed to just be stale ā€¦ but I think Celtic fans need to be careful the abuse they give him for all the club won with him as manager ā€¦

Ah he was but heā€™s no good anymore and a troublemaker

They want Ā£5m for Doig. Thatā€™s way too much I think. Heā€™s very unproven.

How much do they want for Nisbet? Iā€™m sure Celtic could throw in a few makeweights. Loan Montgomery, throw in Robertson and Griffiths.

It went horribly wrong for him and for Celtic and he stayed on too long. And his abrasive personality became deeply annoying when results went bad.

But itā€™s not all black and white. We were very good in the Europa League in 2019/20 up until the second half in Copenhagen. Even then it was stupid individual errors that cost us getting further. And we won the league and cups playing well. We looked really good at times.

But all that was undone last year and then any goodwill evaporated with his narky reactions to any questioning of his tactics. He wasnā€™t able to adjust and proved incapable of rejuvenating players when they lost confidence. Fraser Forster grew as a player under Lennon twice but too many others went backwards.

Anyway all that balance and nuance is very hard to articulate now when he continues to offer ill advised opinions and continues his defensive attitude.

Ange is a phenomenon. His football is so good. But I hope weā€™re patient with him when it goes wrong. Which it will some times. And it may be that we struggle in Europe this season. His attitude will probably buy him more patience from the fans but a few poor results and that positivity will be seen as flippant disregard, like Strachan or Mowbray.

Lennon is an utter dick and embaraasses himself even further anytime he makes a media appearance.

Out of his depth in football management.

There is clearly a huge difference in terms of coaching, instruction, philosophy, application with Ange compared to what went before. Lennon managed like it was still the 1990s, albeit we got some good results initially in his second spell. But they were largely based on moments rather than any structured dominance.

Ah yeah thereā€™s no comparison. Particularly apparent because theyā€™re using the same coaches. I still donā€™t think weā€™d be able to top a Europa League group with a clueless manager. I just donā€™t think he figured out how to change his tactics and he was really poor at motivating players when they were out of form. Only a little thing but Duff mentioned on RTƉ during the Euros how we targeted Acerbi in both legs against Lazio. There was at least some level of preparation and tactics that went into those games. But it wasnā€™t good enough once we got figured out. And the motivation piece was clearly really poor.

We got 6 points v Lazio that we were blessed to in all honesty. Letā€™s not forget it was Cluj who advanced with us and who had dumped us out of the CL before Copenhagen happened.

Nah we played well in those games. We had a little luck. But we played very well in the second half of the home game and after the first 15/20 minutes in Rome. One of the reasons Cluj got through is because Lazio got 0 points from our games. And we actually played well away to Copenhagen.

No doubt there were poor European results as well but then we had those under Rodgers too.

Playing well an odd time.

We played alright but Lazio were probably the better side in those games. Two last minute winners over then is a 6 point swing. That would have meant Celtic would have needed to go Romania and likely need a win.

Ah you canā€™t just say in a 6 game group weā€™d have needed to win our last game if we hadnā€™t won 2 of the games we won. For whatever reason we played well in those games. We had good players and we defended well and took our chances.

Iā€™m saying we were utterly blessed to beat Lazio twice, particularly at Parkhead.

Lads lionising Lennon because a dominant team he inherited and dismantled utterly played well an odd time.

No , itā€™s just important not to end up like the Rangers animals slaughtering managers

@fulvio especially pointed it out vehemently at the time.

Fair enough but itā€™s done , no point obsessing over Lennon , leave him off

I think some bhoys are pissed off with his ongoing media tour. The best thing he could do is fuck off and do some EPL punditry or go back to Virgin for Champions League, if he cares about his Celtic legacy. He was on Sportscene today and pointedly refused to give Ange any credit for the upturn in displays. Said it was due to crowds being back. A constant refusal to take any responsibility for what went wrong last season too, like in all his media appearances at the time. He also publicly threw Edouard under the bus. Said his body language last season made it abundantly clear he wanted to leave. Heā€™s constantly stirring the pot.
