Cue permarage on the other side of the city if he goes for 20 odd million and the next coming of Baresi(if you believe the papers) Calvin Bassey commands an undisclosed fee. Would be gutted to see him go but I think Everton have a right back that they might let go on loan back to Glasgow😀
I think Juranovic should stay, get his champions league games, World Cup and then see what the offers are next year. He’d still have three years on a contract so would still command Tierney like money I think?
If rangers had any sense they’d cash in on him… everyone thinks he’s great because he gets back to cover his original mistake … top level strikers will take him to the cleaners
Agreed. Unless he does his knee. To be honest, if I were him, I’d take the money whilst it’s on offer.
Sell him for 25m
Buy a replacement for 10m
And the job is oxo
Net spend footix alert
If he goes for less than 15 million we need to bring fulvio back.
I recall Fulvio wanting to play juranovic on the left to facilitate Ralston at right back …
Eh 10m on Andy Lyons mate
Stevie G would rather spend the 25 million on a 12 year old from the sevco academy.
I’d mentioned last week that Scales was being linked with Aberdeen as part of our apparent interest in Barron. I don’t think Ange rates Scales for the role he wants a full back to play. Scales is a left back/centre back whereas Ange wants a left back/left winger/centre midfielder with the huge running, overlapping/underlapping/inverting, ball playing demands. The modern day full back is on the ball a lot and Ange also wants someone who breaks the lines with slick forward passes. I still go back to that cup game where he was berating Scales for ignoring progressive pass options and constantly going for the conservative backward pass. He barely featured after that.
Barkas went to Utrecht on loan recently but there was a still a few more to be moved on - Ajeti, Soro and maybe Jullien. He has a year left but I don’t think he’s in Ange’s plans. Pity the way it’s turned out for him with the long term injury. There were some weekend reports that he plans to see out his final year but we’ll see.
As regards incomings, plenty of talk that the Jota permanent deal is close to being announced. It’s gone quieter on the left back from Argentina. Linked with a specialist #6 that plays in Belgium with a club owned by City Group too. Mark Lawwell maybe using his contacts there.
A load of tweets since I posted a few minutes ago.
Centre midfielder Alfa Semedo set to sign from Vitoria Guimares in Portugal. Initial season long loan with mandatory purchase clause for some reason.
And reports that the left back from Argentina is imminent too.
Seem to have a much wider scouting network in last season or so … I know Ange knows the Japanese market but is Lawell responsible for others ?
Talk that Lawwell is strong on South American market alright.
The midfielder, Semeso, played a couple of seasons in England so more likely to be known already. But apparently the original tweet mentioning the deal in Portugal has been deleted so possibly not the certainty being reported.
My Spanish isn’t hectic but I think that’s Berna saying his goodbyes at Lanus before flying to Europe to join Celtic.
Lawwell’s only just in the role so don’t think he can take credit for scouting net being wider in last season, well not officially anyway. He’s worked at City Group for years so I’d say he was involved in alerting us to the likes of Frimpong, Roberts and a few more that were on their books. He also put Ange on our radar apparently, as they own whatever Japanese club he was at.
Siegrist confirmed.
That’s a good backup keeper secured.
I can exclusively reveal that João Pedro Neves Filipe will sign for Celtic on a permanent basis tomorrow.
I think a second signing may also be announced, but I’m still investigating this.
Who?
