Celtic Transfers - 2013 Summer Transfer Window

Fuck off. You orange cunt.

Hooper’s attitude was a disgrace. Good riddance, Lennon talks some amount of shit, his loyalty to a fuckwit like Hooper was sickening especially when he stabbed a true Celtic hero like Alan Thompson in the back.

Lets hope we don’t bring in Doyle to replace the portly Hooper.

This post makes no sense. Lennon beat Barcelona and qualified for the latter stages of the Champions League while cantering to a league and cup double last season. Is it that easy for clowns to manage teams?

Fuck off, Mac.

Lennon lost a semi final to Ross County and threw away a league title to Smith in his first season.

You’re only as good as your last season

As I said, fuck off you orange cunt.

Read quotes from Lennon saying he was best striker Celtic have had since Henrik. Good player and all who could put away a chance and link play. Not nearly in Sutton’s class though imo.

He should have said best striker since the days of Larsson, Sutton and Hartson…he was far better than Miller, JVOH, McDonald, Dublin, Riordan, Sheridan, Samaras, Stokes…not as good as Bellamy although he was just on loan as was Keane.

As for Lennon…he was 45 mins away from being jobless back in Oct 2011 and his Hampden record is still shocking but last year’s CL eased the pain a little and you have to respect the man’s love for the club and fans…he’s like me and you, he’s a Provo too…

He’s not better than Samaras and Stokes. Lennon also seems to have a problem with loyalty, he betrayed Thompson at the drop of a hat and the man who saved his job back in Kilmarnock was continually benched for an out-of-form player with a bad attitude and as it now turns out was engineering a move away the whole time.

The whole Hooper saga exposes Lennon as an idiot. £5.5m is a great fee and we shouldn’t have any bother finding a replacement with that - I don’t think we really need one in any case - we have Watt, Stokes, Balde and Samaras who can play up front as well as young Atajic. Reinforcements in the centre of midfield and a natural winger should be our priorities. I was encouraged to see Lennon say he wanted to add another left back to the squad as we only have Izzy as a natural there.

I’m very worried about our midfield this season, I think we could be seeing a lot of the inept Kayal and Mulgrew playing there. Mulgrew’s versatility is an asset but he should be played primarily as a centre back and secondly on the left side. He’s not very good in the middle of the pitch. I think Lennon just tries to find a place for him in the team because of his set plays which is amateurish management.

On Hooper, I wouldn’t be surprised to see him go the same way as Scott McDonald. Both started their Celtic careers off really well but after that good start became complacent and dropped off on work ethic and when that happened their limited ability and technique came to light. McDonald was released by Middlesbrough last week, Hooper is where he wants to be now. I certainly won’t miss him and I doubt Celtic will either.

We’re also supposed to be taking/have taken Andre Mortiz on trial. He is a midfielder who was released by Crystal Palace this summer.

He reminds me of a less robust, more mobile version of Commons. Would definitely look like he could carry out the role on the right a lot more efficiently that Commons and free him up to play in a central role.

I see he has denied the trial rumours. Lennon said he was hopeful of having a player signed before Cliftonville - any idea on who this may be?

Disagree on Samaras and Stokes. Samaras is so frustrating sometimes, had a great CL campaign last year holding the ball, pressing defenders etc but i think Hooper’s movement and knack for getting into positions to score goals makes him a better striker. He may find out soon that it’s easier to score against St Johnstone and Kilmarnock that in the epl. Stokes didn’t score too many playing for Sunderland! I do agree on Kayal and the midfield but think we still need another goal scorer.

Huns are loyal…Celts are faithful.

Stokes

Stokes was playing in the Premiership while Hooper was stuck in League Two. Stokes potential has always been there, he just had problems with getting his head right and his attitude. On the pitch, for the most part of his time at Celtic I’ve felt he has shown a very good attitude. He seems to have really improved his fitness levels and strength, he will never be the quickest but he works the channels well and has the technical ability to make something happen. If he gets the playing time and more importantly, the continuity, that Hooper has had in previous seasons I have no doubt he will better his goalscoring feats.

A link has belatedly appeared for today’s friendly. 1-0 down to Borussia Monchengladbach after an hour. Ledley and Matthews have just come on for their first appearances of the season.

Lost 2-1. A late Stokes freekick after we went 2-0 down. Darnell Fisher was stadium MoTM - young right back. Ledley was good when he came on, as was young Henderson. Watt looked a bit out of place on the left and Balde was toiling again upfront.

So Hamburg confirmed they rejected a bid for Rudnevs and the player wasn’t interested anyway.

Seems like we’ve moved on to Derk Boerrigter as our primary target. He has generally been used as a wide forward at Ajax as far as I know but certainly has the size to play centrally.

Rumours of Atsu and McClean as well but I’m not sure how credible they are.

I’d imagine Boerrigter has not been signed as Hooper’s replacement but as a wide option. I would hazard a guess we will still be in the market for a striker.

Boerrigter looks decent in this video, seems to be a very direct winger with decent technique and he’s left footed which is a bonus.

Possibly. Lennon did say we wanted to bring in one or two strikers so he’d maybe count as one of two with a more penalty box striker joining two. He’s not dissimilar to Samaras so we may be looking at a regular 4-3-3 as that suits Samaras already and Stokes and Watt are comfortable playing there and Commons and Forrest should be too.
