Landry N’Guemo is at Celtic Park finalising his move at the moment.
hail hail
yep. But the FAI bend the rules whenever they feel it appropriate.
Esp where Bohs are concerned.
Naka was formally unveiled as an Espanyol player yesterday. Scott Cuthbert joined Swindon Town for a fee believed to be around 100k - he was highly rated in youth teams but injuries held him back.
Fortune’s positive about his first week as a Celtic player - from The Glasgow Evening Times:
New Celtic striker Marc-Antoine Fortune marvels at fans
by Ronnie Cully
NEW Celtic striker Marc-Antoine Fortune had heard the stories, most of them from Tony Mowbray. Now he knows the reality.
Playing for Celtic is like nothing the 28-year-old he has ever experienced - and he is loving it.
Thirty minutes of action on the other side of the world as Celtic defeated Brisbane Roar 3-0 confirmed to Fortune that boss Mowbray had not just been spinning him a line in the hope of luring him north.
Celtic are indeed a global phenomenon - and one which the new Bhoy is still trying to quantify.
The French Guianan is just glad he has a healthy lump of experience on which to draw as he tries to find his feet with his new club.
Fortune believes the time spent learning his trade in Holland, France and England gives him a distinct advantage over the likes of Landry N’Guemo, who is set to follow his path from Nancy to Parkhead.
It will be the first time 23-year-old N’Guemo has moved from the club he joined when he travelled from Cameroon as a kid.
And Fortune appreciates just how important it is to have experience packed in your luggage when you kick off a new career on foreign soil.
He said: "I think I’m coming here at the right time in my career.
"If you come here when you are younger and you have never played outside of France, it can be difficult for you adapt to the football you are being asked to play.
“But I have travelled a lot before I got here, and I think I’m ready to play for Celtic.”
The taster he received when 31,000 turned out to see the Hoops in Brisbane has whetted his appetite further, and Fortune is now looking forward to sampling the special atmosphere which is generated every time Celtic play at home.
Signing for a new club, then packing your bags to head Down Under, all in the space of 24 hours, would leave any player in a jet-lagged whirl.
But Fortune has embraced the challenge and appreciates the chance to introduce himself his new colleagues, even if it was at 36,000 feet.
“It was a really good chance to get to know my new team-mates,” said Fortune. “It can be the best opportunity to talk to everyone.”
He was delighted to get the chance to show them all what he could do as he trained and played in Brisbane. And Fortune revealed it was a relief to get away from the negotiating table and back onto the pitch.
He said: “I was in Glasgow for three days without putting on my football boots, and I really wanted to play in Australia.”
Almost as important for Fortune is the chance to play for Mowbray once again, and he forecasts that the man who succeeded Gordon Strachan can go on to join the list of managerial greats.
Fortune said: "He is close to his players and understands them because he was a player himself.
"He wants us to play good football and to score a lot of goals.
“This is a tradition of Celtic and he can be a massive manager for Celtic.”
Fortune is determined to prove that Mowbray also knows how to spend money wisely. And, having seen his new team in action, the striker is sure he has something of value to bring to the side.
“I want to bring my hard work and mentality to the side because I never give up,” said Fortune.
“These are the qualities that the manager sees in me. Now other people will see what I can do and what I can bring to the club.”
That’s the kind of talk Mowbray wants - and expects - to hear from the man to whom he gave his big break when he took him to the Hawthorns in January.
It was no surprise to the Celtic boss that Fortune slotted in effortlessly with his squad, and that his first signing has already impressed under what could have been difficult circumstances.
Speaking from their Brisbane base before they head home later today, the manager said: "Coming to Australia has been great for Marc.
"When I was speaking to him about bringing him to Celtic against the competition of Premier League clubs offering him a great deal more money, I told him about the fans and the people worldwide who follow the club.
"So it was good for me that he watched in amazement at the number of people who have been around here in green and white shirts.
"It is humbling, I’d suggest. Here I am, back as part of this football club, and it is much more than I remembered from 14 years ago.
“I’d suggest even Manchester United, and teams like that, have a worldwide support. But I don’t think they would carry the same passion and fervour of the Celtic supporters.”
That was brought home when they turned up for their first training session at the pitch owned by the local Celtic Supporters’ Club in a suburb of Brisbane.
Around 2000 fans flocked to the tiny little ground, and were rewarded with chance to meet their heroes and collect autographs.
Mowbray knows the value of good PR, but reckons it is a two-way street.
He explained to Channel 67: "It would hard for any club in the world to have that turn-out for a training session. There’s no doubt it helps the team.
"It also helps my team-talk before the game because you can’t go and play a friendly game half-cocked.
“You have got to go and produce because it means so much to the supporters of our club.”
N’Guemo taking a look around Celtic Park today. That’s Lawwell in the white shirt and the lad’s entourage with him. Photos taken by a lad on his mobile, who hid in the stand at the end of a stadium tour having heard whispers that a potential signing was floating around the place. Excellent stalking - it should be completed tomorrow:

Good story on Fortun there - playing his first match in a friendly at the other side of the world in front of a bigger home crowd than he enjoyed at Nancy, WBA and Utrecht. Another great day for the diaspora.
Cuthbert looked a smashing young player but injuries took their toll alright. Didn’t really impress at St Mirren last season either so I suppose it was right to move him on. Hope he does well though.
N’Guemo was back up to Celtic Park today. He left without signing and wants to have another chat with Mogga (squad were back from Australia today) so that will take place tomorrow. Not much other rumours doing the rounds.
Obviously he is having second thoughts. It will be funny if he ends up in Reading or Doncaster after this.
Having probably only spoken to Mogga over the phone, it makes sense that he wants to chat to him in person. I believe the squad’s back in training today so it should happen during the day.
Andreas Ivanshitz is in the papers touting himself for a move to Celtic too.
Welcome to Paradise, Landry.

delight as landry nguemo joins celtic
Paul Cuddihy
CELTIC Football Club are delighted to announce that Landry NGuemo has joined the club on a season-long loan, with Celtic having an option to make the move a permanent one at the end of the season.
The Cameroon internationalist has moved from French side Nancy and links up with his former team-mate, Marc-Antoine Fortune, who recently became Tony Mowbray’s first signing for Celtic.
The 23-year-old midfielder has been with Nancy for the past four years, making over 100 appearances for the club. And he is delighted to have made the move to Celtic Park.
Speaking exclusively to the official Celtic website, NGuemo said: "This is a fantastic honour to sign for a club of Celtic’s stature with its wonderful history and magnificent supporters.
“I’m looking forward to playing for this great club over the next year and hopefully extending my stay at Celtic beyond that.”
Landry NGuemo will be officially unveiled as a Celtic player tomorrow, Friday, July 17 at a press conference at the Lennoxtown Training Centre.

Celtic manager Tony Mowbray has closed the door on a move for Republic of Ireland U-21 international James McCarthy.
Accies have reportedly agreed a fee with Wolves and Wigan of around 2m but the Parkhead club have also been linked with the Hamilton midfielder.
However, asked if the 18-year-old was on his radar, Mowbray replied: “No, I would suggest not with the numbers that have been bandied around at the moment.”
Mowbray, however, will have the services next season of Landry N’Guemo who signed on a year-long loan from French club Nancy.
Celtic have the option of making the move permanent at the end of the season if the 23-year-old Cameroon international impresses
“We are happy to have him on board”, Mowbray said.
“He creates competition in a part of the field where we are a bit lighter than last year with Nakamura and Hartley moving on.
“I am looking forward to working with him and seeing how he gets on.”
N’Guemo was glad of a chance to join the Parkhead side, saying: “I feel very happy.
“I joined because Celtic is a big club and it was a pleasure to know that Celtic wanted me.”

Sad day for the former European club winners when they cant pull 2m together to buy a young Scots/Irish/British player whose diaspora the club claims to represent.
Looking forward to see how this geezer gets on in the EPL.

I’m not sure what his value is to be honest. I thought he looked decent enough last season but only really because you’d be looking out for him. He has plenty about him but he didn’t take the SPL by storm and I don’t think he’ll take the EPL by storm yet either.
Whether he improves in time I guess is the gamble.

He has declared for Ireland KIB. Why you calling him British or Scottish?

Ya but surely its worth the punt rather than have the likes of Flood, McGinn, McCourt just eating wages when you know they are shit.
Time I watched him v Rangers I couldnt believe how average he was. I literally thought from the hype that this lad would be running the game. Bit of a step down from the likes of Bayern, Barca etc who were ‘linked’ with him. In a totally unrelated matter his agent is Willie McKay.
Its more than he is a perfect fit for the club, he is of Irish Heritage but Scottish/British born and bred. Isnt that what the club is about?
Since he has declared for Ireland he is an alright sort, hope it goes well for him in the EPL. Really think things are building nicely for the Irish side ahead of next season. Lots of lads will do well next season I feel.

He’s declared for Ireland KIB end of.
Things are looking decent for us all right. Stephen Reid being fit is probably most important thing imo.

To be fair to Willie McKay (and he doesn’t deserve fairness because he’s a cunt but I’m a fair man) he wasn’t his agent when the Bayern/Barca stuff was going around. His agent was some guy who headed up Braveheart Promotions or something like that. He’s an ex-con so I think he can’t get a UEFA license and that’s why Willie stepped in.
The hype all came from the other guy though.
There were clubs that seemed genuinely impressed with him but not really sure why they didn’t follow up on their initial interest. I don’t think he’s the finished article or anything like it and he may turn into Sean Thornton or something but it’s good to see young Irish lads commanding attention anyway.
Celtic don’t have 2 million to speculate on players. I doubt McCourt and McGinn are on significant wages at all, and I think McCourt will play a part this year.
Mogga tried to sign Paddy The Provo last season when he chose us over West Brom so I reckon he’ll get some game time all right. I reckon we’ll be more flexible formation wise under Mogga and the football should flow better than Strachan’s rigid 4-4-2 with one defensive midfielder and wingers on the wrong sides.
Le Havre striker Amadou Alassane is over for a week’s trial and initial reports suggest it’s probable that he’ll sign for us. He scored 10 league goals in a relegated Ligue 1 side last season and is meant to be good in the air, mobile and strong. Mogga seems intent on giving us a harder edge. Fortune is robust and powerful too and N’Guemo, while small in stature, is reported to be tough tackling and physical. Hopefully the mix of that with the likes of McGeady and Crosas will work well.
