That Sheridan 6-month loan deal has been finalised now. No sign of Eidur, no sign at all.
Interesting quotes from Mowbray on the interest from Hull in Hinkel today. Seems like a big offer would tempt us but not before Tuesday.
"We are aware of some interest and there has been interest since the day I came here.
"I don’t think Andreas is in any rush to leave this football club and we are in no rush to move him on.
"But as I said before, if we are going to rotate our squad around and improve certain areas, then if the right deal comes along for this club we will assess it and see if it is something that we want to do or not.
"No firm contact has been made and so we will wait and see.
"But I would suggest that there is a very slim chance that he will be away before Tuesday night.
“While young (Paul) Caddis has done well in pre-season games, it is a big game to thrown him into so I would suggest that Andreas will still be here on Tuesday.”
Don’t like the sound of that. Hinkel took a bit to settle but is playing good football now. Knows how to use the ball and has showed good energy levels. Unless we have someone else lined up and its a big offer then I wouldn’t sell
Wouldn’t be pleased if Hinkel was sold - he’s one of our better players and has good ability and experience. I understand we need to generate some cash to buy more players but he’s not one I’d be thinking of allowing to leave.
Spurs have made a Stg10m approach for Scott Brown according to rags like News of the World, Sunday Mirror etc.
Squad photo up at Lennoxtown yesterday - no Boruc in the picture.
Check out Scott Brown’s wandering hands in the front row. The kid from Stockport in the back row is a giant.
Heard us linked with St Ledger again though not sure there is any substance to it. Figure of 5million pounds which seems very excessive though think centre half is probably a priority.
Misun’s a big guy too. No Ben Hutchison.
hillarious by brown
Also seen Kilgallon of Sheffield United mentioned. Don’t know if he’s any good.
he is meant to be very good
he was muck at leeds but very young so maybe has come on a bit…doubt it though…
he is very god at sheffield utd - dont think he played for leeds when they were in the EPL so he is playing at a similar standard to when he was at leeds(?) & doing very well

fuck off you turnip…
Interesting quotes from Mowbray below. Are Brown and Caldwell two of our better players? Agree with rock that despite recent form Caldwell is probably our best centre half. Brown has good energy and bit of skill but when up against class opposition I think his defiencies are bit too prominent for my liking. Don’t really see the difference between selling Hinkel and selling Brown or Caldwell myself as all these players are probably worthy of a place in the side without being exceptional or near it.
Celtic’s manager, Tony Mowbray, has stressed he wants Aiden McGeady to remain at the club despite reports of rising interest from England. Harry Redknapp was among the spectators as Arsenal won 2-0 at Celtic Park on Tuesday night. While it was thought another of Mowbray’s players, Scott Brown, was the key target for the Tottenham Hotspur manager, it has since emerged McGeady also features prominently on his radar.
Yet Mowbray, who scoffed at the suggestion 7m would be enough to prise McGeady south, wants to build his Celtic team around the Irishman.
“I don’t think there is any expectation that we are going to lose Aiden,” he said. "I have got no thoughts about losing any of the players we don’t want to lose, and you can substitute Aiden’s name for that of Scott Brown, Gary Caldwell or others in that case.
“I want to build a team, not break a team up, that is why I am here. We can’t be successful by selling our best players and I am not sitting here knowing I am under any pressure to bring money into the club.”
The anomalies associated with Old Firm management will be highlighted tomorrow as, either side of the two-legged Champions League play-off against Arsenal, St Johnstone visit Celtic Park.
“Arsenal won’t work any harder than St Johnstone will work,” insisted Mowbray, who disputed his team are under increased pressure in their home league than on the European front, where financial gaps are striking. "It is just that there are not many teams in the world who are better with the ball than Arsenal. That is where the difference in the game will come.
“I don’t get the pressure thing; we are a football team who has to go out and do what we do, whether we are facing St Johnstone or Arsenal.”
Rangers travel to Tynecastle on Sunday to face a Hearts side still smarting from Thursday night’s 4-0 Europa League qualifying defeat to Dinamo Zagreb in Croatia. Walter Smith, the Rangers manager, will again be without the injured Pedro Mendes, while Kris Boyd is struggling to recover from a sickness bug.

K-League leaders FC Seoul have confirmed Celtic have expressed an interest in signing highly-rated South Korea midfielder Ki Sung-yong.
The Scottish Premier League side are due to meet 20-year-old Ki’s representatives later today in London ahead of Wednesday’s Champions League meeting with Arsenal.
“Celtic have informed us of their intentions about Ki Sung-yong,” Seoul’s general manager Kang Myong-won told Sports Seoul.
“We understand that the player may want to move but this is not a good time for us to sell.”
Seoul are currently six points clear at the top of the K-League and will face Qatar’s Umm Salal in the Asian Champions League quarter-finals next month.
Looks like McManus is off to Ipswich in a loan deal initially with view to a 2.5 million move.
Not sure about that one. I’d be happy to take money for him but I’d rather it up front. Worst case scenario now is he goes to Ipswich, doesn’t really perform and they just send him back. He’s hardly on great wages so not much advantage in having him off the payroll if he’s liable to come back onto it.
I don’t think he’s good enough for Celtic and I think he’s done most or all of the improving that he’s likely to do. One of Strachan’s biggest mistakes was making McManus undroppable.
I don’t think he’s good enough either but I think we should be getting more than 2.5m for him. He’s club captain, has captained Scotland on occasion and has performed at the highest level of club football.
Ironically enough, he’s often played well in those European games where we’re under pressure and everything’s a bit furious and last ditch and he’s diving in and making blocks etc. It’s in domestic football when he gets ragdolled and bullied by utter muck like Colin Nish et al that shows he’s not Celtic class.
But I imagine most teams would be scouting the national team games and the bigger Celtic matches where he’s often held his own. Also, the likes of Cuellar and Hutton have been sold for far in excess of what’s being mooted here. I’d be holding out for 5m odd to allow us more scope when signing a replacement.
I would disagree with Caldwell assuming the captaincy on a permanent basis too - it should go to McGeady, or Boruc.
delighted to see mcmaniac leave
