BBC Radio Scotland are tonight reporting that Everton have bid Stg6m for Scott Brown.
Bari have announced that they are in talks to sign Massimo Donati.
We still need an animal at the back, a top quality midfield player to play alongside N’Guemo and a quality striker with pace capable of leading the line on his own if we’re playing with one through the middle and two wide players.
Maybe a couple of outgoings will allow us to strengthen in these areas.
Ye could do worse than getting someone like Clinton Morrison on board, he would score goals up there, would be great for the “irish” club to have another “irish” player

I still think there’s the makings of a good player in Scott Brown.
But at the moment:
a) he’s not a central midfielder
b) he hasn’t developed as quickly as you’d expect
People talk about him being a 4m player but in England they just write off plenty of those players at every club. Celtic can’t afford that. If you got over 6m for him and had replacements lined up then I wouldn’t have a huge problem with letting him go.
I’d be looking for a reasonable fee for Donati as well, he’s a decent player.
Apparently Donati’s said his goodbyes at Lennoxtown today and is on his way to Bari.
Seems like a thoroughly alright sort and is a good player. Good luck, fella.
Genuine question
Were Celtic always a selling club? I know fook all about it but DOnati gone, McGeady & Brown under offer and might move? Whats the endgame for Celtic in all this? Money in the bank is all well and good but you cant put a hitch on a hearse

Celtic have a minimal amount of debt, less than 2m in the most recent accounts, so they don’t have to sell anyone at the moment. But there’s not a stream of cash available to purchase players either and, as a result, Mowbray will have to sell if he wants to make further additions. Like any manager coming into a new job, I imagine there’ll be players he’ll regard as expendable and he’ll look to make changes to the squad so we’ll be listening to offers for some players.
Cheers, doesnt seem to make much sense to me though to sell your best players if you are unlikely to be able to replace them adequately with the money they will bring in?
I’d only regard Boruc and McGeady as ‘must stays’. A player like Scott Brown is attracting interest in the EPL with a fee of 8m mentioned. He’s a limited enough player and 2 or 3 players could be added with those funds. That said, there’s no point selling someone in the last day or two before the window closes if there’s no replacements lined up as that certainly weakens the team.
Celtic have apparently finalised a deal to sign this Ki Sung-Yong character for Stg2.1m in January. His Korean club are top of the league and in the latter stages of the Asian Champions League and refused to sell him until their season has ended. To be honest, I don’t know anything much about him other than he’s from Seoul but he’s not a soldier.
Anyone know what fee we got for Donati? Brown simply isn’t good enough in my view. Basic parts of his game let him down like ability to retain possession. He seems to struggle to raise his game against top class European oppossition which isn’t what we want. To be perfectly honest though all players bar McGeady and Boruc aren’t good enough to make us threatening force in Champions League group stages. Would like a team that could at least compete well enough in Europa though.
No harm in signing that lad but we do need to replace Donati. We have N’Guemo and Crosas/Brown at the moment for central midfield. I think Brown is better in an advanced role and I don’t think Flood is good enough to fit in there and the same applies to McCourt for the moment.
Trying to think of a good value midfielder but none springs to mind.

I think you could do a job. Nuts and bolts Carlton Palmer type figure
Is it not a bit late now to be selling players Bandage in the hope that you bring in funds for replacements?
How long to go now until the window slams shut - four or five days?
Seriously though Morrison is a better player than Fortune.
I think I mentioned that earlier on this page, it would be silly to sell a few first team players now if there’s no replacements lined up. I imagine there’s plenty of negotiations going on in the background and we’re primed to move on a target or two if Donati and one or two others depart.
Mo Mo Massimo
Mo Mo Massimo
Mo Mo Massimo
Massimo Donati
I’ll never forget Donati’s goal against Shakhtar Donetsk. What a fucking night that was.
Pity to see him go but he’d obviously resigned himself to leaving after the Strachan era and while Mowbray was giving him a chance, I don’t think he was ever central to his plans. Mostly because I imagine it was clear from the start he’d be leaving.
Doesn’t say much for Crosas though that he hasn’t had a look-in.
Joey Barton and Kevin Nolan would be going cheap from Newcastle and would be as good if not better than anything at Celtic…If ye could get Barton’s head right he would be a super signing
