Well I’d be very surprised if Sunderland appoint a manager who transforms them into a footballing side. They can think that way all they like, but come the first defeat they’ll sacrifice all their expansive ambition for a few reliable bruisers for short-term security.

Good play for that Armstrong chance and Forrest did excellently. Otherwise it’s been a little bit ponderous since half time and the pace has gone out of the game. Slightly worrying for -3 backers but I expect another spurt in a while.

Pleased with Scepovic today. Still has work to do but he definitely looks sharper and he got in good positions and worked much harder off the ball than he was doing early in the season.
Griffiths is just a terrific striker of the ball. Decent ball from Commons but that’s a really top quality finish. He’s excellent from that distance.
Forrest nearly released Johansen a few minutes ago. He had a decent second half in fairness to him. Possibly read the comments on here at half-time.

The poor young keeper doesn’t have the quickest reactions. Not that either the 4th or 5th were his fault or anything but the ball was in the net each time before he even got down for his dive.
