Celtic v Dundee ☘

Taylor, Rogic and Abada drop out.

I’d say Taylor and Rogic were the two most culpable the other night. I’ve watched key moments several times and their application (Rogic), ability (Taylor) and decision making (both) was brutal. Interesting that Scales doesn’t make the bench even and it’s Juranovic switching over to left back to replace Taylor. I’ve been quite underwhelmed by Scales’ general performance level, a couple of lovely strikes for goals aside. I don’t think Thursday night was a throw the baby out with the bath water affair, certainly not in terms of overall playing style. I wouldn’t be crucifying these individual players either but it does highlight we can pretty much upgrade on every position. Nobody is going to be a world superstar playing in the SP(F)L anymore, unless they’re Rangers players, so we can always be improving/on the look out. And players need to know they’ll be dropped if their levels dip.

Massive match for Celtic …thought the Norwegians showed how to set up against them to frustrate them … be interesting to see what Dundee do … important to win by hook or by crook after rangers dropping points …

The Norwegians are an excellent side though.

Ah they’re not, they are organised … have a look at the attempted clearance before celtic goal …Norwegian fish monger got the low down from his Scottish cousin who’s an iron monger from Clyde who destroyed Roy Keane …they were suited to playing against an attack minded Celtic …

Ralston and Jota have a great connection down the right wing

Disaster. Get moving Celtic fs

FFS sake. That’s really poor.

O Riley checked a bit there but that’s a ball bouncing 5 yards out from a corner. Awful

Giiiiaaakkkooouuummmaakkkiissssss

That’s a fine finish.

Great fucking finish.

Brilliant swivel finish. Keep going now and put this to bed. No more scares please

What a response

Great pace from Maeda. Giakoumakis has been really sharp.

Big gia catching fire :fire:

Couple of strong penalty claims there near the end.

Decent display overall. Poor defending for their goal. Really bad in fairness. Again we’re done with the check block but we’ve nobody covering the back post area at all and are still vulnerable to the same trick or a variation on it.

Happy to see Giakoumakis get his goals. He had one other effort dragged wide too. Few times when the ball has been pinging around we’ve been trying to get it down and play a pass but we need to have more snap shots and he’s done that.

Maeda showed some turn of pace for the second goal. Not much of a cross but that’s encouraging to see him being effective out wide.

Also worth mentioning how windy it is. Not an easy day to play football.

Dundee never got out of the bus, they just parked it in their half. Good finishes by Giakoumis. A calamity is never too far away for the he defence though

That’s a good response to going behind. Conceding from set pieces still a huge problem. A swirling wind, fair enough, but the ball softly bounced on the six yard line between the posts and yer man could swivel and score unchallenged. Someone’s got to be aggressively heading that away. Hart also seems to get pinned on his line a fair bit at corners.

I thought Celtic were doing well enough up to that point in trying to open them up. The gaps started opening up noticeably around the half hour mark, shortly after we went behind and before we scored, and they don’t look very fit at all. Plenty of space for the combinations around the side of the box on either side and Ralston, O’Riley and Jota kept working openings. A few cut backs, low crosses cut out/blocked before the opener. That was a cracking finish by Giakoumakis and Maeda did well down the other side for the second. An inexplicable non-decision then not to give us a penalty for the foul on Giakoumakis.
