Celtic v St Mirren ☘

Rogic in for Christie. And Griffiths starts with Elyonoussi dropping out. Would have liked Frimpong to start today. Pity he hasn’t played on the left.

Forrest starting again.

There’s the proof there that his form has absolutely no bearing on his selection.

Surely an ideal situation to give Soro a game too.

We won’t see Soro until the league is won I don’t think. He’s really for next season.

But it’s an ideal opportunity for him to acclimatise, at home to St Mirren, Brown and McGregor have started 57 out of a possible 58 games in the league this season between them. We’ve been playing twice a week for the past 6 weeks now.

There’s no better time to be giving Soro a chance this season and both Brown and McGregor could do with a rest.

You’re going to moan your way to 9 in a row. He hasn’t even played much for the reserves yet.

We are highly likely to win this league but we still need to go and win it. Not being in Europe any longer means we can afford to keep Brown and McGregor in the team and we need Bitton elsewhere.

The problem you fail to realise is Brown and McGregor are way off previous performance levels. If I’m moaning it is to do with deteriorating performance levels from most of our established players.

We are utterly reliant on Edouard right now, guys like McGregor, Forrest, Ajer and Christie have all gone backwards since Lennon took over and there’s been nothing done to address these issues.

We have plenty of guys in that squad itching for a chance but who have been frozen out by the manager while underperforming players are playing twice weekly.

McGregor has been excellent. Along with Edouard and Jullien, he has been the backbone of this team.
Christie had a superb 2019 under Lennon. Rodgers didn’t pick him until he had an injury crisis.

We have been much better this season than last season overall. Better domestically and better in Europe.

McGregor has put in a few terrible performances in big games. He looked like he was running in quicksand against Copenhagen and he’s way off the level he was at under Rodgers.

Christie spent a season and a half on loan at Aberdeen, he had gotten plenty of minutes off the bench in the early half of last season before the injury crisis occurred.

Footix on tour.

And you think that season and a half at Aberdeen and his time off the bench were better than his form this season? :joy:

McGregor was completely overrun against Copenhagen because Brown was half fit after his injury, Christie and Ntcham were missing and Rogic doesn’t really do defensive running. He was pretty much the sum total of our midfield unfortunately.

Footix in among the ultras.

What on earth were you on about?

I said his form this season has badly regressed from that of last season. You claimed he only got opportunities due to an injury crisis which is you being completely and utterly disingenuous again, he received plenty of opportunities in the early half of last season before cementing his place. He got the opportunities and he took them.

It’s the major difference between Rodgers and Lennon, Rodgers wasn’t afraid to hand players a chance and if they did well they stayed in the team, the squad was a meritocracy where the in form players kept their places and the out of form ones didn’t, by and large - you could make an exception for Sinclair last season.

That doesn’t exist now, the same players will be picked week in, week out - irrespective of how much miles they have on the clock or how poorly they are playing. You are here defending the indefensible week in, week out without any acceptance of the glaringly obvious.

The ultras are down the gallowgate mate

On tour too.

You’re some headcase. :grinning: :grinning:

Christie has 19 goals from midfield this season. He was outstanding before Christmas.

You’re not happy until you’re moaning. I’m sorry for enjoying our excellent season.

What’s excellent about it? Knocked out of Europe by Cluj and Copenhagen and the best bit has been the meltdown of our rivals.

Gggrrriiiffiiittthhhssssssss

This is true enough. Celtic are having a good, but not an excellent season. Lennon is at best a step sideways. I actually think he’s a step backwards tbh. Can’t fault their overall spl record, but secco have their number at present in the old firms, which Celtic have been really poor in. Now you can justifiably argue that old firms are only four or six games a season, and don’t matter in the general scheme of things, but they really do imho.
We’ve been overrun in the past three, and beaten in Europe by mediocre enough opposition. We are the opposite of a continental signing, in that we can do it on a wet Tuesday night in Stoke, but can’t in a glamour tie at present

We won two of those last three, one comfortably, one fortunately.

We have more points than last season (as do our challengers) and more goals and a better goal difference. The European exits this year were poor but the AEK Athens one was the worst of the lot. We deserved to beat Copenhagen and Cluj on the balance of chances. AEK outplayed us. We stormed through our group this year, including excellent results against Lazio. We were fortunate to get through our group last year. And our insipid exit to Valencia at home was as bad a performance as I can remember.

If people can’t take enjoyment in a potential 9 in a row season with attacking football and the likes of Edouard producing masterful performances then they seem to me to be miserable people.

The bottom line was you were on here defending the board when they lost us John McGinn last year and now you’re saying the AEK Athens one was the worst of all.

You’re a contradiction.
