I’m an illegal immigrant KIB. So stop talking through you’re own hole.
Yes, there is a good living to be made here, if money is the be all and end all to you. You have no idea what the rest of Oz is like as you have only lived in NSW in a nice cushy lifestyle. And more power to you. I’m just allowing people see my experiences.
The amount of Irish people packing up over here and heading elsewhere is rarely talked about, but many hate it. I think there are decent aspects to it, and i have mixed experiences here. But generally the people are rude, ignorant and try to rob you. You won’t get alot of that working in the banking world, oh hold on…
Its funny how riled up KIB & Fitzy get defending Australia, particularly when neither has been to the places (longer than a week) i’ve been or have any real experience of these places. ou’d never hear them defend Ireland, Clare and Wexford as much.
The comparisions with the Poles doesn’t match up. Much of the dislike of the Polish was one, some not willing to make an effort to speak english and two, they were undercutting the shit out of local tradesmen and in alot of cases doing inferior work. Here Irish lads get just below average to just above it, but do far better jobs in the majority of cases.
It seems we are particularly annoying the local Italian Mob, who have a big presence here and have a massive hand in construction.
So because a few Poles came into the market and made it competitive, poor auld local tradespaddy had to sift some of the cream off his exorbitant costs. The inferior work is a red herring also and some horseshit thrown out by some blocklaying cunt who could no longer afford to buy a new pair of jeans and check shirt every weekend only to have to throw it out the following Monday because he’s destroyed them by falling asleep in a ditch.
Anyway, back to the Mariners. We play Melbourne Heart tonight in Melbourne, difficult game, Heart are coming third, we win this and its pretty much us and Brisbane on our own. I think we will though, we’re a different team when Pedj is playing.
The amount of coverage that tiny ickle bit of handbags got was ridiculous, media trying to cover up the fact that Sydney are shite and haven’t won in 6 games now.
The Mariners won 1-0 last night, Adam Kwasnik with an 89th minute goal after Heart had peppered our goal with 16 shots, Matt Ryan giving a masterclass in shot stopping. Winning games like this away is what champions do. 9 point lead at the top and we face lowly Adelaide at home on Saturday. Happy days.
Our colleagues in Spain beat the facisto scum as well. Tremendous altogether.
Typical of the utter crap you get over here. The mix between the already show p(h)on(e)y Aussie gits, and then soccer and you have some some of the greatest idiots of all time together in one glorified League 1 standard bag of shite.
It is growing though, and its massive in Perth in fairness, far bigger than i noticed in Brisbane or Cairns. The next level below A League at semi pro is actually quite decent and is far closer to the top level here than you’d normally get. Quite a few Irish lads play at that level. Its hugely backed by the migrant communities, Italian, Serbs, Greek, Croats, Irish and very much by a massive English/Scottish population here. As players tend to play with a team full of their own countrymen it makes alot of the games very interesting and attracts very decent crowds for such a level, more than some A League games. All out brawls happen a couple of times a season which is always entertaining.
How is that typical? Its an extremely isolated incident in the A League.
Look, its not exactly Champions League standard by any means, but what would you expect? The A League is getting better in terms of playing standards and crowds are consolidating. Now that the FFA is over the embarrassment of their pathetic World Cup bid, they can concentrate on the A League. More and more foreign players will cop onto the fact that they can end their careers here in a great lifestyle and get paid well. As more recognised players come, so will the crowds.
Football is huge here in terms of participation. My own club has 55 teams for example. There’s a whole generation gowing up where the first sport they actively played and continue to play is soccer. Rugby league will be dead in a few years, hopefully …
No, its the bravado/hard man act i’d expect from your typical 24 year old Aussie, not specific to soccer. As you mentioned, it was handbags, which is what it always is over here. Unless of course 6 guys find a guy they don’t like on his own, only then will they “fight”.
But in relation to Soccer below that, i would well believe it will be/is a huge game and will continue to grow. Whats kinda strange over here is though absolutely everything, bar Cricket & Baseball, is played at the same time of the year. So kids have to play AFL, Soccer, Rugby etc all at the same time, or choose one or two or whatever. Whats also mad is they say they avoid the hot weather of summer time for games, yet pre-season is done in the hottest of weather.
By definition, wouldn’t the pre-season have to be done in hot weather?
I agree with what you’re saying about the sports being played at the same time, but there are even overlaps as well. Fitzy Jnr for example plays rep soccer and will now have to give up cricket as they clash, because he’s started soccer training.
I think the bravado / hard man act is a pretty unversal thing for young lads, as evidenced by a Saturday night out in any city in Ireland or Britain, including by the banks of the river Lee Kev.
