Atletico don’t look up to much. Milan have been the better side and didn’t deserve to lose.
Different class.
They must be up to something winning away.
ozil cost arsenal here the cunt
4 serious contenders winning first legs away from home this week.
The wheat is being sorted from the chaff.
Flamini caught napping for the second goal.
We will have more hard luck stories tomorrow about a correct decision to gloss over a complete mauling.
Bayern took their time getting a second but were denied a penalty and had all the chances. Even at the very start during Arsenal’s “domination” Kroos had that cracking effort.
Thought Arsenal got caught between a few things. No point in Ozil playing as a left wing back. Play him further forward or play Podolski if you need a runner who offers an attacking threat but has the mobility to defend.
Ronnie starts with “they’ll feel aggrieved.” Why exactly? They were steeped to lose by 2.
Not really. They didn’t create any good chances, their goal came from a set piece poorly defended by Milan with an wild airborne header from Abate and nobody reacting to it. Milan ran out of steam towards the end and were lacking decent options on the bench to change it. If they can give a full 90 minutes like they did in the first half then they have a chance, not sure if Montolivo will be available in the second leg but will be a big boost if he is. Seedorf seems obsessed with Emanuelson who was a liability for the whole game as well as being allowed over set pieces all game when he is dreadful at them.
Arsenal always feel aggrieved, even when they’ve been hammered.
I thought the essential difference between English and German people’s respective attitudes to life was summed up by Thomas Muller’s reaction to scoring. If that had been an English player, he’d have been laughing and smiling - Muller had an angry scowl on his face.
I think it’s linked to the war.

Fully agree, better team won & probably should have by at least 1 more goal.
The likes of Barcelona and Bayern are hard enough to play against with 11, a man down and you have practically no chance (without a massive bit of luck like Chelsea had at the Nou Camp a couple of years ago)
Bayern just probed and probed and eventually got the second which kills the tie. They have ridiculous options, look at the midfielders they were missing tonight. Deserved a couple of more goals tonight.
Ozil didn’t bother his arse all night, in fairness.

Ah rocko arsenal were playing with 9 men out there from 65 mins in
i wasnt aware they has used the 3 subs as im a little in and out and have israeli tv on so the commentary is hard to grasp late a night so im in a watching mode, its easy to say bring on podolski now as i was caught but 2 subs had been used for the red and the injury… what ozil did tonight in the second half was a disgrace, this is backs to the wall, you man up and you defend, there were players running past his FFS, he was standing watching proceedings and the lad Flamini was running around after 3 players in a triangle.
Bayern the better side yes, but arsenal contributed to their own downfall
Fucking bizarre change of rule of the professional foul put forward there by Giles.
It was an odd one alright. If an underdog got a pen after five minutes they would probably be better off missing it under gilesys rule.
The current rule is far from ideal but if you just gave a yellow and a penalty as many are proposing you would be as well hauling a fella down in a lot of cases and taking your chance they might miss the spot kick.
On the back of Giles’ recommendation Eddie Keher is drafting a proposal to do away with the red card in football as we speak.
“It goes against the ethos of the game. Football is a manly game and sending our footballers off is embarrassing for them and their families.”

I think the rule is fine as it is.
What is the obsession of the RTE lads with top attacking players not tracking back?
If they don’t do it, then they seem to write them off.
Daftness.

Agreed. And you’d have more handball on the line and all that sort of stuff - why wouldn’t everyone take a chance?
I’m also a bit taken aback by the talk tonight of Robben’s touch going away from goal and am extremely disappointed to see @Bandage joining in that line of thinking. His touch went away from goal so he could take it around the goalkeeper who was careering off his line. That doesn’t make it any less of a goalscoring opportunity. If the keeper didn’t rush out and foul him then it was a goalscoring opportunity. His touch was sideways to avoid the onrushing keeper. That didn’t make it less of a goalscoring opportunity. And taking it a level further even, if his touch had been backwards or miles away or anything you could still argue it was a goalscoring opportunity because you couldn’t divorce Robben’s touch from the keeper advancing on him and not playing the ball.

I hate the way they didn’t even mention the majestic performance of Kroos but instead spent the while time talking about ‘heart’. Flamini had heart and he was at fault for both goals ffs
