Sounds like the perfect away performance
‘This guy (Ozil) plays for Germany!!!’
Says Eamonn in disbelief.
Agreed. And you’d have more handball on the line and all that sort of stuff - why wouldn’t everyone take a chance?
I’m also a bit taken aback by the talk tonight of Robben’s touch going away from goal and am extremely disappointed to see @Bandage joining in that line of thinking. His touch went away from goal so he could take it around the goalkeeper who was careering off his line. That doesn’t make it any less of a goalscoring opportunity. If the keeper didn’t rush out and foul him then it was a goalscoring opportunity. His touch was sideways to avoid the onrushing keeper. That didn’t make it less of a goalscoring opportunity. And taking it a level further even, if his touch had been backwards or miles away or anything you could still argue it was a goalscoring opportunity because you couldn’t divorce Robben’s touch from the keeper advancing on him and not playing the ball.
In fairness, I put forward the counter argument but concluded it was the correct decision. Apologise to me publicly.
I’m sure they will be delighted with the result but I expected them to be much more assertive this evening.
So that only leaves Chelsea really with a chance to win it for the EPL?
Liverpool won it in 2005 mate having lost 14 matches in the EPL that year.
RTE analysing last night’s Barca game in a ridiculous manner. It’s terrible but (sorry @braz83) I can’t turn it off.
The contact for the penalty started outside the box but continued into the box. Therefore, a clear penalty under law.
Dunphy bemoaning the doubling up of Kolarov and Clichy and saying it blatantly didn’t work while showing clips of Alves running riot after Kolarov went off and they were already down to 10 men. Eh, the point being he was held in check when they had both of them on the pitch.
The direction he played the ball should never have been part of the argument or counter argument. Concede that it wasn’t a judgement call on your behalf but a dismissal of an irrelevant point.
Of course it’s relevant because the touch determines whether it’s a clear goalscoring opportunity or not.
That fool @ClarkeyCat just arrived home and reckons it wasn’t a red card.
Wenger lamenting the sending off. Says it ruined the game for the spectator. It was a high quality match before then and very boring after.
The referee presumably should have thought about this before he sent Schzney off.
Never mind the nature of the foul.
Apparently that was Kevin of rte kids tv in the 90s fame interviewing robben there

in this instance i’m almost in agreement with his disbelief
Jaysus he was pitiful.
Was he laughing!?
i would think Milan are still in with a shout, a 1-0 and spotters in spain is not beyond the realm of possibilty
Seedorf seems to have given them a bit of energy of late, i like his attitude , always have
From the highlights I saw just now, Kaka (only 31) linked up with Balotelli very well and should have had a couple,
there is a goal in Milan, this will be a great return I think
The continued criticism of Mesut Ozil is absolutely absurd.
He was shite defensively tonight but not helped by having Monreal behind who just hid by his centre back all night. He was asked to do a completely unsuitable job though.
no, no its not
50 million euro and he flops in 2 big games.
He dosent want to know pal or else his confidence is shot, personally ill go with the former

Ancelotti was spot on getting rid of him. Ozil won’t win you a champions league but Bale might.
Wenger had a right moan last night. I don’t really mind his nonsense complaining about the referee and the sending off - he’s completely wrong but that’s just pretty much par for the course now that a losing manager blames defeat on incompetent officials.
He also took the time to have a go at Robben over the penalty as well which is acting the prick. He got clearly caught, with the keeper’s studs, on his shins. It was as clear-cut a penalty as you could ever see and I’d say the challenge actually hurt a bit. If it happened further out the pitch, there’d be no talk of Robben overreacting. He also had a go at Neuer for diving when he was clearly caught too. I’m disappointed in Arsene and am now looking for a new English club to hate least.
