Champions League - Round of 4

I’m not being harsh, I’m just saying it wasn’t a magnificent defensive performance. It was a competent effort on the back of an excellent first leg effort. Not disputing whether they deserved to go through.

Also Barca had the Bojan chance, might have had a penalty or two and maybe a Bojan goal. It’s not a glut of chances over 90 minutes but if playing a high line is a lottery then so is sitting deep and letting the ball be played around your box all night.

should i lay off now mate?

borderline?? not a chance…he was fookin off…the only rubbish is comparing it to a chance that was not even finished…

The referee on both nights played into Inter’s hands by blowing the whistle every time somebody hit the deck…slowed up
both games…

Mourinho’s a masterful tactician though. And I’ve rarely if ever seen a manager that has his team set up so well and playing what seems to be an exact formation and tactical instructions.

van gaal is a rigid tactician too – im from the school of thought that thinks that a 0-0 draw is the perfect result so heres hoping for the final

United done the exact same in nou camp in semi final a few years ago…always easier spoil than create…

And sending Tiaggo Motta off played into their hands as well?

That can be a good thing and a bad thing though. Look at Benitez at Liverpool - players afraid to express themselves.

I think Mourinho’s biggest sttribute is the confidence he instills in his players. He is a terrific man manager and ultimately players play for him.

Gordon Brown said the referee is a bigot. I just heard it on Sky News there.

Fair enough.

True, but Inter created a few chances and scored 3 goals at home. United camped out for both legs.

people are underestimating the fact that the spanish have a inferiority complex about italian football- i think it was luis erique who said he wished that spanish teams were more like italian ones

no i said blowing for everytime somebody hit the deck…what has Motta got to do with??..

When you say ‘people’, you obviously don’t include yourself. I’m sure you had a thread somewhere on TFK urging members to back Inter to go through. I can’t remember where the thread is situated though.

The Dutch are a little like that with us too. Good luck in the final mate. Two great footballing cultures clashing. One of us will be disappointed, let’s just hope it’s by the odd goal after Extra Time.

You said that the referee played into Inter’s hands?

Oh - so you only meant by blowing up when players hit the deck. So we’ll forget that he sent off one of Inter’s players harshly?

also the amount of class players brought in during the summer- milito, eto, schneider, pandev & lucio- they werent far off last year but he brought in half a team since & all class players-

You could lay off now for relatively little. You have your money as good as won now…

Rocko what exactly should Inter have done to give themselves the best chance of reaching the final if not what they did?

In the circumstances it was a great defensive performance. If you limit the chances the opposition create and frustrate them so much in the process theres always the chance they won’t stick away the one or two they get. A two goal lead on top of that…

Maicon and Milito and Eto’o did their best not to give the ball away when they did manage to get some way up the pitch, he could have taken off Milito for Materzzi after the sending off if he was as negative as you’re making out. A lot of lesser managers would have made a similar positional substitution in that situation.

yes best of luck mate- whatever happens this has been our season & we have been proved once again the most knowledgeable on european football- still Kibman will be on later to take us through the trotters against the hammers
