Champions League - Round of 4

I knew something special was on when the likes of andy Carroll laid the foundations

Yawn

Oh the seethe would be unreal if big ears was over his head.

England and Liverpool have also won absolutely nothing with him in the side it should also be noted.

He started right side of midfield in Liverpoolā€™s last cup final win

Pretty much every manager heā€™s played under has been sacked.

Pretty much every manager gets sacked eventually these days. Jog on mate

You need a core of John Bull in every successful English side. Jordan Henderson, James Milner provide that and Andy Robertson, the Scotch, a key ingredient in any successful Liverpool side. Look at the likes of Woolwich against Brighton on Sunday. Not a single English player, or indeed player from the British Isles in their match day 18.

Funny all these comments from Suarez before the game and his Instagram/Twitter posts (him on the plane taking a picture of Anfield & him on the pitch last night), he definitely felt all they had to do was show up tonight.

It bit him on the arse (no pun intended).

We sent the EPL & Liverpool haters to bed tonight.

Not a peep. The silence is glorious.

Divock Origi is a real British centre forward . A championship player . Jack Charlton know Johnny Foreigner donā€™t like it up ā€˜em

2nd season in a row that Barcelona have collapsed out of the Champions League from a seemingly unassailable position. Serious questions have to be asked.

Pique, Busquets, Alba, Messi, Suarez - these guys are serial winners with a reputation of being mentally tough and delivering in big games. Itā€™s very strange.

They could improve on Rakitic and Coutinho but who else? Sign Origi?

well in fairness to him, he said he wouldnt celebrate scoring a goal at Anfield.

he took it a bit too far in not even trying to score a goal, but still, at least he was true to his word.

Barcelona have huge problems partnering Pique. Umtiti and Langlet arenā€™t the answer. Busquets isnā€™t very mobile and needs legs around him. Rakitic is a spent force and Vidal runs a lot, but not very efficiently or intelligently.

Coutinho is a huge problem. They are playing him wide, effectively nullifying any width.

Teams like Liverpool will murder you unless you shut down their full backs.

Barca couldnā€™t cope with Liverpoolā€™s high energy, maniacal pressing. It wears you down over two legs. They wore City down last year. Guys like Mane, Salah, Henderson, Wijnaldum, pressing intelligently, killing space.

It was evident from about the 50th minute what was going to happen. Barca were creaking, everyone except Messi was hiding in plain sight. They took off the only pair of legs they had in midfield.

Ultimately it was arrogance that killed Barca. Same as it killed Pep against Liverpool last year. You go to Anfield to spoil the game on a European night. Go to attack and you will be obliterated.

Iā€™ll discuss. Anyone quoting Duncan Castles should be slapped across the face with a decent sized trout

The Klopp press worked well right up until the end. Mane is the ultimate Klopp player.

Youā€™re right, they never got to grips with the Liverpool fullbacks. Liverpool also got lucky with Wijnaldum coming on and playing the game of his life. Milner is also a legend of the English game, even if he struggles with the pace of midfield now. Iā€™d go as far as to say that if he still played for England at FB then England might have taken Croatia to penalties at the WC. I donā€™t get the abuse for him on here, heā€™s an incredible footballer.

Liverpool are the younger team but I think their fitness levels are slightly suspicious.

Barca are old though and youā€™d have to question where theyā€™ll be in 2 years time.
