Was that when the lad just strolled between the 2 of them and got a shot in.
That was so bad, I actually laughed
Yes. They were both frightened of tackling him because they both knew that they’d foul him because they were so slow so they just stood out of the way instead. It was comical.

[]They really aren’t all that good. We were better than them for most of the first half.
[]There is no way on earth that we can defend close to that badly again.
[]We have a 100% win and tie progression record at Fortress BT Murrayfield.
[]We are more than capable of scoring against them.

We have that away goal.
But my God that was beyond awful yesterday. At 2-1 I said it was every bit as bad a performance as the one away to Artmedia Bratislava. I think it may have ultimately surpassed it. I think they had 29 shots. For a game that was even for about 35 minutes, it was a spectacular collapse.
There were a few new lessons last night:
[]Virgil is still a young, inexperienced defender. He has excellent physical attributes but he’s not a natural leader and doesn’t marshall the defence. He is happy to make individual interventions but his marking in general play is extremely sloppy.
[]Jo Inge Berget is fragile, frail, timid and quite useless.
[]This idea of pushing the full backs forward and letting the midfield sit in doesn’t work when the midfield don’t know how to cover for the defence, when the centre backs are tempted to cover out wide much too quickly, and when the full backs are too slow retreating.
[]Forster is our best player by a distance.
Some familiar lessons that reared their heads again:
[]Mulgrew has tickets on himself. He is slow and obvious in possession. He is slow and careless without the ball. I was seething with him.
[]Johansen is a neat and tidy player but doesn’t impose himself when matches are going away from us. He/we needs Scott Brown.
[]Ambrose has some physical abilities, like Virgil, but has no idea how to defend positionally.
[]There is no leader in the team outside Scott Brown.
[]We aren’t good enough with the ball or without the ball to play a cavalier attacking style.
[]We badly need a specialist coach to work with the back four.

A couple of new players might be no harm.
Forrest is in the Celtic squad for tonight. Would be a bit of a risk throwing him in (though arguably less of a risk than playing Jo Inge Berget from the start in the first leg) but he might be a useful pacy option off the bench.
In non-CL news, there’s growing speculation that Forster will be leaving for Southampton after this game.

Yeah, both legs live on TVP. Just the game. No pundits. Looking forward.
@Rocko, what time will I call over? Will you provide tea and cakes?
@Mark Renton
Actually I’m wrong @Rocko . One of the kids just texted me to say it’s not on tv only on pay per view on the web for 12 quid. Will need to find a link. They were supporting Celtic for the first leg. I asked them why? “Because they’re Irish”.
An acceptable half time scoreline this evening would be Celtic 1-0 Legia Warsaw. 2-0 would be better again and anything more than a 2-goal winning margin would be magnificent. Scoreless at the break would be below par - not fatal but unlikely to progress if they’ve held us at bay for that long and with us still requiring 3 goals. A first half concession would be absolutely disastrous and more than one concession would be totally unacceptable indeed. Happy to take queries on goal permutations throughout the afternoon.
