I just posted up the view in Australia on that incident in the 2006 World Cup. Evidently the feel they same sense of injustice in Australia on that penalty that Juventus (incorrectly) feel about the awarding of the penalty night or the same sense of injustice that Liverpool fans feel about a penalty incorrectly awarded to Juventus against Gary Gillespie in the 1985 final.

You didn’t see fit to respond or take umbrage to the comments that Liverpool fans @Sidney and @TheUlteriorMotive or Liverpool hater @dodgy_keeper had to make about the Heysel tragedy and you make scurrilous and unfounded accusations against me when I hadn’t said a word about the Heysel tragedy. You’re not stalking any of those three though. Disgusting carry on out of you using the Heysel tragedy to wage the personal grudge that you have against me. You were at the same thing on Sunday night, trying to score points against me over the death of former Laois footballer Mick Jones who I had said that I knew personally. What’s wrong with you?

Liverpool were robbed barefaced that night. Their penalty was never a penalty (it was 2 yards outside the box for a start) and Ronnie Whelan was blatantly hacked down in the box. However it was never going to be any other way given what had happened. Juventus’s reaction to the result was very distasteful. So much for caring about your own fans. Platini and the rest looked like they didn’t give a shit. Joe Fagan was a nervous wreck during the match however after what had happened and had to be helped off the plane in tears when it landed back in Liverpool.

The stress of Hillsborough had a profound effect on Kenny Dalglish - he had to quit the job as that awful day in Sheffield took a huge toll on him. Perfectly understandable. Showed real character to come back to work a few months later at Jack Walker’s Blackburn.

Strange that the deaths of 39 innocent people at Heysel didn’t have a similar effect on him, for whatever reason. Probably a credit to Kenny that, in the case of Heysel, he was able to put the passing of innocent people at a football stadium disaster to one side and work on through it.
