Changing Irish History

I’m in favor of a 31 county Republic mate. Clare should be excluded for electing Dev and continuing to vote for him in droves for 40 years.

On a side note, that depressing story from whatever angle shows that no-one knows the facts behind a major and shocking event in recent enoughhistory.
Not to demean it, but how the fuck do these lads who live on flood planes assert unchallenged that “the house never flooded before in 250 years”
How the fuck would anyone know this?

Why do you want a 31 bud??? no mess

When you condemn FF (and FG) for their pursuit of personal gain do you mean the politicians or the policies enacted?

My granny, may she rest in peace, hated the bastard with a passion too - because he was “a gobshite”. She lived through his notions of comely maidens dancing at the crossroads, and the church ruling the roost. I’d probably have elevated his status from gobshite to cunt.

Both. There is a difference between the policies a party espouses and what they enact. For example someone who knew nothing of Irelands history since 1922 might think FF were a Republican party from their stated policies or goals.

32 mate, obviously kidding about Clare even if there are compelling reasons for their exclusion. A 32 county Ireland would have been and still would be a much stronger economic entity than the existing two states. The combination of the industrial north with the agricultural south would be powerful. We would also have probably won a Euro championship if not a world cup in football.

FFS sake

Dev was a legend

That’s not Dev pal - that’s Hans Gruber, the internationally-renowned terrorist that carried out the heist on the Nakatomi Plaza back in '88.

I thought it was Severus Snape?

No - definitely Gruber. I’d know the head on him anywhere. Sure, he was all over the news demanding the release of the seven members of the New Provo Front in Northern Ireland. Shocking stuff really.

Ireland was a far better place back in the 50’s and 60’s people could leave their back doors open at night, there was no hordes of robbing travellers and muslim rapist gangs

For who the church

only messing bud

No seriously lad. Anyone who believes that Collins created the Northern Irish State by signing the Treaty must have learned their history from the “Michael Collins” movie ffs.

If you want somebody to blame (not that Ulster folk go in for that type of thing…) perhaps your ancestors up there who rolled over during the Ulster Plantation deserve your ire. Their weakness is the real source of that chip on the shoulder you lads up there have. Us boys down South have no such hang ups due to the fact that our ancestors resisted the plantations and were not weak, spineless, cowardly cunts.

What would have happened if the treaty was rejected?
