Cheltenham-Early thoughts

but that simply isn’t the case with Jonbon, he’s been campaigned perfectly

If you look at his full brother, Douvan, he is campaigned almost identically - he was trained by Willie.

Sure bringing Gordon into it is pointless as he was only interested in big chases on the remit of O’Leary.

Willie might burn one but that doesn’t mean Henderson will “take or leave” a supreme. He’ll campaign the horse correctly and if the horse is there he’ll win it

Gordon has horses place in the supreme for giggi and im not even sure of the relevance of that but anyway.

Henderson will definitely will leave all his short. There’s no way he’ll train one as hard as the Irish trainers for the race.

If the horse had the class to win it’ll win like Shiskin but there’s no way he’ll have as straight as willie or Gordon.

Old Trafford will be a Red Raw Colosseum the same night!!!

Be a shame if that Jonbon ever has to jump a fence. He jumps hurdles like a cat. I’d say that’s what he will do, Nicky and JP live 2 mile hurdlers.

For the old timers, the Champion Hurdle and the Gold Cup are the races as Ted Walsh says

Don’t think jp has won an arkle or a champion chase. He’s pushing on now too so I’d imagine he’d be desperate to win those and Nicky seems to be send more and more chasing with each season. Even buveur dair went jumping before reverting.

Heard one or two people say jp has increased his Purchasing and numbers in both willies and Nicky’s in recent times. Prob one big splash to try and win as much as he can. It’s noticeable how many runners he has with willie compared to five years ago already.

The Champion Hurdle is JP’s fav race.

I’d make it long odds on he’ll go chasing anyway but we’ll see in time.

Rewatched Cheltenham from last year.

Sort of forgot al boum photo was only 5 and a half lengths behind Minnello indo. A couple of willies ran a few pounds below form last year in Cheltenham too I feel. I don’t think they all really peaked anyway Not like Henry’s did. Rachel cut him off too and the ground was good.

If the ground comes up soft I think it makes al boum the fav. Minnello never jumps well on soft ground and Galvin seems to best on good ground too.

There seems to be lot of confidence around al boum photo from the Mullins camp on him putting in a better display than last year as well in the past week or so. 12s/14s e/w is very fair for a multi too.

Ruby has put him up I’m nearly sure

There’s potential value there. But Willie said he was gonna run him a lot more often this year to get him back to his best. And then didn’t. So just wondering has there been issues

Its hard win as a 10 year old.

Depends. If he wins Supreme, its long odds on he stays over hurdles. He is lightning quick. The question is whether he is that good. I suspect he is. We learned nothing about him in his last two runs, but visibly he looked top class. Would love to see him run in Betfair

For me you’ve Minnello indo, a plus tard, galvin and al boum photo as the four contenders at the moment.

Is Henry going to arrive in to Cheltenham in the same form as last season? It’s a very hard thing to replicate.

I think al boum is still a major player. I’d rather back him at current odds than anything else.

Id say A Plus Tard is a much better horse this year and is open to further improvement. Id be surprised if he gets beat in Gold Cup.

You also have the issue with jockeys. Henry needs jack back on minello indo but Gordon will be slow to let him commit I’d say just in case anything happened Davy. It’s a real tricky one.

7/2 is tight enough imo.

Be big on the day.

I think 12s is too tight around Al Boum. 10 year old is a stretch too much these days.
