Cill Chainnigh v Tiobraid Árann - 2010 All Ireland Hurling Final

McGrath’s win and handpass was reminiscent of Bandage back in his hey day as a devastatingly creative 11 or 14.[/quote]

Very astute observation in a post full of them, Appendage.

Agreed on the Tipperary supporters too. And the county also gave us Gemma Hayes, Una from The Saturdays and Katie and Patricia from college. A lot to like about them.

Not to try to drag the topic away from some decent discussion on the match itself but, while watching the movement and intelligence of the Tipperary forwards was an absolute treat, it was sobering enough to realise how far removed we’re from that kind of hurling.

Personally it looked to me that Shefflin wasn’t right at all from very early on, certainly from after his second missed free and it was no surprise when he had to go off.

Super day yesterday.
The atmosphere was electric, particularly the last 10 minutes.
Tipperary fans far out numbered the Kilkenny ones, but that said I thought the craic would be better afterwards.
Ended up in Flannerys and it wasn’t great. Thought there would be more hi jinx.

I don’t think forward movement is Wexford’s problem Bandage. Although consistent application of the ability to create space is.

Watch Oulart forwards move and pass, as I’m sure you did recently and you’ll see that movement isn’t the issue. Winning the ball in the first place, applying pressure, tackling, decision making under pressure would be more like the problems in my opinion.

I’d say you should have gone across the road to Ryan’s, a Tipperary pub and a noble one at that, a great place for a lock in.

Not many problems so.

He described his younger self as a “tall fella with a big arse that you’d throw in full-forward”

His skill level is just incredible though. It’s class just watching him puck the ball around before the game. Poetry in motion.

I’m only talking about the forwards farmer.

Ya I’m very familiar with Ryans but I was meeting others in Flannerys. I have a dislike for Flannerys anyways so I had probably decided I wasn’t going to enjoy myself before I even went in.

I haven’t read back through the thread here, and I’m a bit too fucked to write any of substance on the game itself and I’m sure it’s all been said on here already.

This is was a great result for hurling, as teams next year won’t have the same fear of playing Tipp as they do Kilkenny. Now granted this Tipp team may develop the same aura about them in the coming years, but at the moment it’s great for hurling. What it needs next for at least one of the weaker counties to come through and start to seriously compete.

You need a coach that believes in that kind of game to start with. Eamon O’Shea has spent three years instilling that philosophy in the team. Half the coaches in the country still think the support game is only a cod.

Babs has spoken.

He took many hard decisions when he took over in Tipp 5 years ago that might have been of benefit to Liam Sheedy. Particularly on the discipline front

Had he succeeded in driving both the Kellys out of the county the All Ireland would have arrived much sooner.

Never a truer word spoke. Cork kinda made it obvious, KK developed it further and more agressively off the ball and yesterday Tipp perfected an all round game.

Did Mgrath see Corbett for the 2nd goal or did he just handpass that ball into space?
I think he saw him? Some peripheral vision

Definitely saw him.
He would have seen Lar beginning his run when he was catching the long ball in.

“Ah they’re lovely, but sure they are all lovely really”

An interview three young girls outside semple stadium on the news

Definitely saw him alright. One of the best All-Ireland final goals without doubt.

Who was that tard banging on about the 5 in a row? That was scandalous. I’d like to register my utter disgust at such ungracious behaviour for the cameras. Thoroughly likeable apart from that lad.

He was what’s known in the business as a ‘yahoo’. Eoin Kelly is a gentleman, as is Larry Corbett.

Definitely saw him. It was something else. One of the best plays I ever saw on a hurling field. What a run by Corbett as well. The intelligence of that man on a pitch
