Those 2 east Clare fixtures will be tasty.

Couple more in the inter that’ll draw a crowd

Are they all neutral venues?

Usually anyway, unless there’s some kind of covid restriction on certain grounds

Losers get a second chance as previous?

Correct

Milltown v Quilty… Is it straight knock out?

Edit. Just saw post above.

I don’t totally understand this format?

Clare

Football: The football format begins on the August Bank Holiday weekend. Twelve teams play in six head to head ties in the opening round. The winners of those games will then face each other for a place in the semis. The fourth semi-final place will go to the winner of a playoff between the six opening round losers. The final will take place on the weekend of 20 September.

How do they get from 6 teams to 1.

This is what is confusing me.

Bit unfair on teams that win a game to be out if they lose the next round, and teams that lose the first game get a second chance

Relax. It’s only football.

If it’s the same as last year that is incorrect. @Raylan can confirm

We had groups last year. This format is short a few amalgamations which were there when it was previously used. It is indeed convoluted as far as having an extra round of games to whittle down the first round losers. There’s a prelim losers rd with two byes to the semi of that section as I understand it.

Surely just doing groups again would be easier?

Think they went with that format planning for the original 11 weeks post-lockdown to run off both championships. There was motions put in to re-format when whatever phase was lifted early, but twas voted down

Heard Conlon was flying in his rehab but he’s hardly pushing to appear this year?

My one and only time as a steward in Semple Stadium. Watched the match lying beside the Clare dug-out.
