Clare Gaa šŸ Thread mark II

Clare 2-26 Waterford 0-18

Clare made a couple of changes before throw in and started Senan Dunford and Gearoid Sheedy from Tubber and Ogonnalloe in the full forward line - two bigger men from smaller clubs and tried to add a bit more directness to their more running style - Dunford proceeded to cause rack scoring 1-3 and could have had another 3 or 4 with better decision making. Be interesting to see can he follow it up as he has hurling but looked raw in some of those misses.

Tom Oā€™Connell was excellent for Waterford in the first half scoring three beauties from play - Conneally switched onto him for the second half and they had a great battle with Oā€™Connell adding another and almost getting a goal but Conneally hurled a lot of ball and cut him off at source for the most part. Adam Hogan put the clamps completely on Patrick Fitzgerald. Waterford had three fine goal chances in the second half that another day they may have scored but the Clare defence scrambled well on all three occasions to force the shot and tidy up.

Once Clare carried ball Waterford couldnā€™t live with them. Jack Oā€™Neill hit three beauties in the second half taking ball off the shoulder running hard. He has a lovely balance about him.

Clareā€™s first win at this level since Ducky Moloney was in charge back in 2015

How did Crotty get on?

Hogan presumably starts in the senior?

Yeah I would think so. He is ready for it

Heā€™s a better corner-back. Hayes is a nice hurler but you wouldnā€™t back him to clean a fella.

Not as prominent as the last couple of games. Worked hard and used the ball well when he had it, hit one lovely point late on. They bypassed the half forward line a good bit tonight with the direct approach

Hayes is a very useful player around the middle and will probably end up there this year.

Hogan hurled a decent amount of ball from full back. Not impressed with Fitzgerald at all

I like Fitzgerald tbh but I rate Hogan a lot. He cleaned SOB who is serious too.

Three times in a row between last years under 20s, harty cup final and this years 20s he has snuffed out Oā€™Brien. He is a real natural defender

Clare 8 points to no score up after 15 minutes in the minor hurling down in Waterford. Could well be a paddling

Yeā€™ve the whip hand there this week

15 to 10 at the three quarter point. Very poor standard

Waterford have hit the last four and trail by one in injury time.

All over - Clare win by one

Some finish to a poor spectacle. Waterford got it back to 1 - 17 to 16, Clare hit two quick points to push it out to three only for Waterford to goal. Clare then score at the death through Marc Oā€™Brien to win it

20 to 1-16

Clare leading early on in Tralee, one self-made goal and another OG has it 2-0 to 0-4.

Kerry lads have an obvious physical advantage in most cases

Normal service is resumed somewhat as we approach halftime

Kerry 0-8
Clare 2-0

Jaysus, ye are hanging in there.

Itā€™s been a good show, even if weā€™ll probably need another goal to rightly upset the applecart

Tomas Oā€™Seā€™s managerial career hanging by a thread.

Tomas needs the bell here.
