Clare Gaa 🐐 Thread mark II

Tubber beat Clarecastle in the intermediate- a big enough shock. Doubt anyone will get within ten of Wolfe tones barring a bottle job

Clarecastle really struggled through their group and that has been topped off with the result today now. Embarrassing stuff

I wouldn’t have that result down as a massive shock, Clarecastle would have no divine right to beat anyone at intermediate with what they have.

I didn’t say it was a shock to be fair

Huge jump in intensity for the second match. I/K look quite strong in general and have a good spread of scorers. Their positioning of David Fitzgerald will make or break them, hard to justify playing him at 7. Reidy beat him up a stick for the last 20 minutes by drifting around. A defender he is not

Feakle off to a blazing start, 2-2 to no score after eight minutes. Crusheen backs all at sea, unusually for them.

Not like a Crusheen fb line

Feakle 2-5
Crusheen 1-3

Crusheen have steadied the ship some bit, aided by a soft enough goal conceded by Eibhear Quilligan on his near post from an acute angle Breffni Horner shot. Still acres of space in around the Crusheen square and Feakle driving it direct at every opportunity.

Halftime

Feakle 2-9
Crusheen 1-5

Still all to play for, Crusheen have fluffed better goal chances than the one they actually got, for all that Feakle have looked the better balanced team.

Crusheen 1-9

Another goal to start the half for Feakle after Crusheen were caught overplaying the ball in defence. Shane McGrath has something like 1-12 with barely a wide scored so far and he’s keeping the gap between the two teams.

Sub Stephen Conway gets onto the break off another long ball and flicks past Donal Tuohy.

Another goal now, stick a fork in this one

Full-time

Feakle 5-19

A fair total to put up

Ref gets the Bridge keeper out of jail there when he dropped a long ball over the goal-line, brought it back to where the advantage had started instead

Bad injury for Clon’s Dylan McMahon now

Halftime

Sixmilebridge 1-10
Clonlara 0-10

The Bridge dictating the terms of this game, got off to a better start and have stopped Clon from getting into any kind of flow. They haven’t minded giving away frees to that end. Uneven performance from Clonlara, Padraic O’Loughlin is carrying most of the threat even outside of his free taking.

Shanahan with the goal, flicked the ball off the backs hurl after a good save by Gully. Moriarty went clean through then and kicked the finish over the bar
