His shoulder is fucked. You can take that to the bank.
Or Hogan Stand
Man management is the main criteria for inter-county management these days. All the top counties competing at the business end of the championship do the same amount of training, type of training, gym sessions, recovery sessions etc. Possibly the only exception to this is Cody who at various times could afford to drop players like Charlie Carter and Brian McEvoy as he had a conveyor belt of players to more than adequately replace them. He could afford to be a tyrant as they had so many options. Practically every other county needs absolutely everyone to have a chance, Clare included.
Clare won the AI in 2013 and that can never be taken away from Davy. However it was as much down to the manic hunger of a supremely talented group of players as it was down to him, Mulqueen or any of the other yes men he had on the management team. As soon as things go slightly pear shaped he is off blaming dual players like Podge Collins who, by all accounts, is one of the most committed players you could meet. Heād play 7 days a week if allowed.
Davy wonāt change at this stage. The man doesnāt do humility. When they won/win itās all about him. They win the AI - deservedly so - and he 's roaring on the stage about someone having a go at him during a facile win over Laois. When they lose itās all down to referees, the clubs, dual players etc.
I can see this getting very messy for Clare. He wants the job for the next 10 years but if Davy was ousted and the u21 duo appointed in the morning Iād fancy them to win the AI in 2015 or in subsequent years.
Mourinho-esque - combination of a big ego with a chip on his shoulder for whatever reason.
Davy believes in the cult of the manager. Believes managers win games and not players. He has a really talented bunch of players and this year needed to trust them. Let them go out and play with a basic structure. The mad dog schtick wears off.
In his favour putting together back to back titles is really hard. Players lose an edge and lose that hunger. Winning an All Ireland is a big anti-climax and a lot of players struggle with it.
If he goes back to some basics and trusts his players then Clare will do well under Davy next year. If he doesnāt then Clare may well end up wasting a golden generation of hurlers. He seems like an impulsive sort who may resign with his AI in the back pocket. Daly may be watching with interest.
I was told it was Conor McGrath who had also packed it in? Maybe all the Cratloe lads gone?
Kinnerk gone too & Joe OāConnor.
Holy shit but i heard theres more to come. We are in free fall
Youāll be very competitive in the National Football League though, Joe. Canāt wait for the Division 3 fixture list to see if Wexford get Clare home or away.
WILL YE SACK HIM
I going to have to ask Paul O Connell to shove the caps button off your pc up your nose.
I think it will get worse. But i canāt see him lasting longer. We have great players that deserve good managmant
I believe Davy is not setting foot anywhere near the prom in Lahinch these days.
Interesting rumour going around with regards to additions to the selectors/backroom team next year. Would be very surprised if it came to pass
Whoās Kelvin?
Kelvin Harold. Was recently appointed by the county board as a full time S&C coach for underage and development squads. He had a spell with WBA in the Premier League and is a former student of OāConnorās and OāConnor will help out and oversee it by the looks of it
Fitzy having a decent stab at blaming podge for the failure of Clare hurling (whilst specifying that he wasnāt, of course, in any way to blame).
Iāll give your post an āinformativeā rating later on.
What do you make of the statements?
All appears fairly reasonable to me.
Mike Browne is a decent appointment, will be interesting to see who replaces Kinnerk and more importantly whether Davy has learned anything from the time he has had to reflect and is willing to heal the rifts caused in 2014

The statements are reasonable but there are issues bubbling below the surface that need to be resolved. If he can learn from his mistakes and fix the relationships with certain players then everything will be peachy. But I doubt that he has the willingness to do so
