Lets be honest, this is all irrelevant. Nothing really matters until the AI quarters. And any team with Kelly, Galvin and McGrath is going to be extremely dangerous.
The GAA should be applauded for making the league more competitive, and with it more entertaining. But its still pretty unimportant.
Do you not see it as a problem that the players absolutely dispise DF?
Nobody in the country will work with him.
Yeah, do they find him difficult/frustrating or actually despise him though? I kind of refer to that when I say the other issues could sabotage everything. Are things beyond being sorted out?
its possibly salvageable. to be honest, if DF came out and said this was his last year, I think it would bounce. The problem is that if the poor players actually managed to win something despite the kunt, theyâd get instantly rewarded by getting stuck with him for another 3 yearsâŚ
The fight really is with Davy and Davy. He is not able to channel his passion and hunger. He also has trust issues with other coaches and the likes and it seems he likes to be in control of everything.
Davy doesnât understand people, and particularly young lads. For the 2nd time in recent years he has stopped young lads enjoying college success and has pulled them away back to training or stopped tem celebrating.
He completely got the Podge Collins and now McGrath situations wrong. With McGrath he should be allowed reduced training, like any college/club lads with extended seasons, an play him in what was an important game for Clare.
League is important to the players and the managements, itâs supporters who devalue it. Itâs a chance to build confidence and fluidity. Only teams like KK & Kerry can afford to totally experiment.
To answer your question, I think the horse has bolted and 2013 is now irrelevant. Clare people are seriously questioning him and weather itâs right or not, the other coaches are now getting the credit for '13 simply by being absent.
To be honest I think he is a selfish insecure character who loves the limelight. His interview the other night was embarrassing.
It looks like Clare have departed somewhat from the gameplan which made them so good before. Their whole game was built to address the fact that they are not aerially dominant, now all the talk is of needing strong half forwards, why canât they get back to what worked for them before? Collins is a big loss as I think he was the most important player in making Clareâs forwards an effective unit in 2013, also, I think they used the spare hand to tackle a lot and are being called on it a little more now. But still, they should be able to overcome these. Have they lost their way from what was making them so cohesive and effective in 2013?
