Showed very poor touch a number of times v Cork. Those balls would have hopped straight into his hand in 2013. Rusty, that will come back to him. As Turenne said, give him thurles or Croke park on a fine day with a run of games behind him and see then.
Itâs not 1984, the pitches are in pretty good nick now in fairness.
The fight really is with Davy and Davy. He is not able to channel his passion and hunger. He also has trust issues with other coaches and the likes and it seems he likes to be in control of everything.
Davy doesnât understand people, and particularly young lads. For the 2nd time in recent years he has stopped young lads enjoying college success and has pulled them away back to training or stopped tem celebrating.
He completely got the Podge Collins and now McGrath situations wrong. With McGrath he should be allowed reduced training, like any college/club lads with extended seasons, an play him in what was an important game for Clare.
League is important to the players and the managements, itâs supporters who devalue it. Itâs a chance to build confidence and fluidity. Only teams like KK & Kerry can afford to totally experiment.
To answer your question, I think the horse has bolted and 2013 is now irrelevant. Clare people are seriously questioning him and weather itâs right or not, the other coaches are now getting the credit for '13 simply by being absent.
To be honest I think he is a selfish insecure character who loves the limelight. His interview the other night was embarrassing.
He is a prick
That guy Joe is very abuseing me
Thatâs because youâre a prick.
Takes one to know one
That is simply not true , regardless of what issues it may or may not have caused. Pairc ui rinn had a very poor surface Saturday night and was cut way too short for this time of year. That said the cork lads touch was miles ahead of ours and they managed it pretty well.
Bizarre comment. I presume you have only seen him play once.
You presume wrong
Nobody messes with Joe and gets away with it. You might be a Clareman, but we all have our problems. Joe is sound.
It is true. Itâs definitely not 1984 and the pitches are definitely better these days and the difference between summer and now is nowhere near as stark
There is plenty evidence now over 16-18 months that he was a flash in the pan.
10 or more of which he was injured and didnât play for? FFS Kev
So what? He has been seen play several times in some decent standard games.
Itâs just fairly stupid to be using this âsummer hurlerâ crap. Ritchie Hogan doesnât wait for the summer. Joe Deane didnât. Nor do these lads have excuses made for them.
He was injured for fairly obvious reasons. Partly his fault, compounded by his idiot manager.
Really?
2 away losses in the League is pretty standard for most teams bar Kilkenny.
KeV you have a serious dislike for Shane O Donnell if you dont mind me saying so. The lad as far as I can see is as fine an example of a young Irish man as you are likely to find. I find it almost impossible to dislike the lad and would be polar opposite to you in Iâd love to see him progress.
Every time I log onto this thread you seem to be having a pop off his ability, its like you are desperate to see him fail. What is he now 20? What do you expect of him. He didnât hurl for Clare last year.
I can only imagine how you apoplectic it would make you if Alan Cagogan was a Clare hurler, and worse still if he single handedly buried cork in an all Ireland final
So she says when the thrush is wicked bad.
I just think the surprise element is gone with OâDonnell. His intent in going straight for goal had defenders all in a heap when he came on the scene. But outside of that (not knocking that ability,it is excellent) he does not seem to have much more to him. Granted he may be rusty and it is only Feb but he just seems a bit too predictable and one dimensional to me. If this proves predictable but hard to stop anyway, he will have mugged me off good and proper. In many ways he reminds me a bit of our own Kevin Downes. 2015 is a huge year for Downes, and though all in Limerick know how lethal he can be, he seriously needs to start showing it.
Yea nearly like you
The PĂĄirc UĂ Rinn pitch was bare, covered in sand and had track marks going through it. Itâs not logical to make definitive player judgements based on February matches on such surfaces.
