It is a fairly big league campaign for Paul Flanagan, if he canāt nail down corner back this year with Morey injured and OāDonovan gone then he never will and might as well pack it in if not in the team come June. If he doesnāt find form there then itās hard to see where we go for another credible option and will more than likely have to shoehorn Browne or OConnor in back there and both are far more comfortable on the wing. We badly need to find a third man for the full backline if we want to do anything this year
And great if he dose one we need
Are you still counting McInerney as a corner-back in that?
I think he will be back there come the summer, he may well be better utilised in the half backline but it may be a case of robbing peter to pay paul by moving him out and playing an inferior player in the full backline. Hence why we could really do with Flanagan and Morey when he is back fit both finding form and making the corner back slots their own. But it is far from guarenteed that either will
McInerney has had his day time to move on but he will be back
John Conlon fit to start. Gearoid OāConnell is named at wing forward and if he starts there then it will be an act of complete lunacy as he is not related to an I/C wing forward while Bobby Duggan and Aaron Cunningham and David Fitz sit on the sideline.
Assume OāConnell will go midfield with Reidy in the forwards or we will operate with a sweeper. Will be interesting to see how Aaron Shanager goes, he is raw but very talented
Wexford lead 4-2 approaching the 15 minute mark. Wexford with a strong breeze. David Mc sweeping with Ryan at 6 and Gudgie midfield with Conor McGrath wing forward according to Clare FM
6-4 to Clare, 25 gone. Sounds like our workrate is bang on against the breeze. Colin Ryan, Reidy and Conor McGrath getting on plenty of ball and using it wel
Wexford 1-6 Clare 0-7 at h/t. Wexford had a strong breeze and took the lead just before h/t through a Mark Fanning penalty.
What channel is this on lads.
Itās on delayed on TG4 at 16:40 I think
Clare have dug it out by the sounds of it, Wexford have really put it up to them.
I drove by the park and it was 1-11 to 0-10. Sounds like we didnāt finish that stronglyā¦
6 points with the wind wasnāt great
It was on live on premier sports. Poor match awful conditions. But we finished strongest scoring 8 of last 9 points. Bobby Duggan the difference in second half.
It was a lovely day on the main street/quay. I was surprised to read about the wind and the bad conditions.
Looked fairly rough . The commentator (whom is an idiot for the most part) consistently referred to hurricane like winds . Kellys puckouts were landing near the 14.
Jesus christ, but that was a putrid performance from Clare. Made awful heavy work of beating Wexford.
Clare FM commentators said there was a heavy breeze but that the pitch was in excellent condition for the time of year. Pat Kellys puckouts were going 30-40 yards longer second half
Awful stuff from clare today ffs
