Pitch looked heavy enough I thought, lots of instances of lads getting bogged down in rucks etc. Their hurling was very leaden at the same time, they were sharper the evening inside against Limerick. Important to dig out the win all the same.
Clare 14-7 up on Limerick in the second half in NCW
What was the Clare team and subs?
Couple of lads⌠only on panel and donât think they will get near the first team.
I see on the Examiner the Cork u21 football manager is complaining that their team has to leave at 130 for a 730 throw-in v Clare at Cooraclare. Meanwhile the Clare boys have not even announced a team and the Clare GAA website is a disaster zone. Could be a long trip by the Cork boys for no game.
Maybe the Cork U21s could win some FLIGHTS upâŚ
Thatâs some website right there. I particularly love the YELLOW background, occupying a palette all of its own.
Clare 9 up at half time. Bobby Duggan, McGrath and Galvin doing most of the scoring. Conor Ryanâs lack of form a serious worry, bad decision alter bad decision by him so far.
Clare with a stiffening breeze second half
Footballers beaten by a point
Big opportunity missed
Beat Longford at home and they go to Kildare (who could be promoted already) with a shot at going up, lose and theyâre still in the relegation mix.
Should be an interesting game on Sunday and a decent gauge as to where both sides are at. While a lot is being made of the promotion aspect I donât think it is the be all and end all for either side especially with the restructure coming and the fact that Limerick will have four or five NaP lads to come back into the fold to the competition for places and Clare will be down four or five championship starters as well.
Iâd be far more confident about our chances if Cian Dillon is fit for this game but if he is missing then it is likely that either Oisin OâBrien or Ciaran OâDoherty will start at corner back if he isnât fit. I would say that if you asked people to list the 20 best backs in Clare I would doubt that either would figure on too many lists and neither are nothing more that solid club players. Our backs havenât exactly been a formidable unit over the last couple of years and we used 9 backs in the championship last year and four are currently injured, one is retired while Conor Ryan is woefully out of form and might retain his place by default due to the injuries to Shane Golden and Tony Kelly and Colin Ryan being out of the country but Conor Ryan should be left out of the team for a couple of games.
I hope that we go for it and play Galvin or Gudgie midfield beside Reidy who is turning into a serious linkman for us and play with 6 forwards rather than playing one of Galvin/Gudgie as a third midfielder or sweeper. We played a 2-2-2 against Kerry with OâDonnell and McGrath 14 yards from goal with Cunningham hugging the left touchline 30 yards from goal and Galvin on the 40 with Duggan and Conlon drifting out and we had a nice shape about us. But i have the feeling that if Dillon is missing Davy will go conservative and will drop a man to protect OâBrien or OâDoherty at corner back. Its a shame Stephen OâHalloran got thee hump last year as he has a llot of the qualities you would want in an I/C corner back and would have seen gametime this spring but such is life
That ape McIntyre tipped Limerick to win on the Last Word so lump on Clare.
They will win the toss
he made work of KERRY/ WHATS YOUR POINT
