Clare V Waterford Munster hurling semi final

Sorry Turenne, I of course meant say I think they will beat Limerick.

B)

Michael Duignan - Ken McGrath is gone Ger, his knee is bet, he has a serious injury and I think his career is over and he wont play again from what I hear.

5 mins later and McGrath is on and scores a point.

why did clare fans boycott todays game?

That was outrageous. That rumour was out months ago. You’d think a man who’s involved in IC hurling like him would have more up-to-date info. He is brutal to listen to.

Well done Clare, this is the start of a fine team i’m thinking. Their size was their downfall in the end, but i’d say that will improve in time, lots of silly mistakes and soft frees, but they have the makings of a really good team.

Waterford will cause Cork problems, but i think Cork are now ahead of them. Dan is gone, he’s in good shape, but is simply not up to the pace. Eoin McGrath still coming on? He’s not good enough anymore. Still they are a good team and have a reasonable bench.

Ref did us no favours today, gave a lot of soft silly frees, but the positives far ourweigh the negatives, in the end Waterford’s strength in depth, a bit of greeness on our part and an inability to win ball in the air was our undoing…Don’t think we could have asked for more given the team that was out there…

Dillon did grand at full back although Dan is now well and truly finished at this level…Cooney was excellent at corner back and hurled a world of ball and made Mullane work hard for all his scores, was harshly penalised for a couple of frees…Donnellan and Diarmuid were immense in the half backline, it is about time Donnellan started carrying more ball out of defense as he has pace to burn…Nickey played the breaks well and took a couple of fine scores, shame he misshit that 65 towards the end…Half forward line went through an amount of work but ran out of steam…Honan looked dangerous and 1-3 is a decent return for a lad who isn’t fully fit…

Good to see the management not afraid to take off the older/more established lads and replace them with young fellas…Hopefully we get Offaly or Dublin in Cusack park and if we get over that hopefully a crack off tipp…then we will see where this team is at and where they are going

Cracking performance. Gutted not to have won it. Tuohy, Dillon, Cooney, Honan, and Collins, Donnellan, and Nicky in the first half were superb. Would have been a huge win but sure we’ll see what happens from here. We’re not going backwards anyway that’s for sure. What the fuck has happened to the site?

Are you lickin polish off the mantelpiece again puke, 1-3 from a championship debutant is magnificent, Nickey had a great first half and will grown into a really fine hurler, the only way is up

Agree with you regarding a cut off Tipp or Galway

Disappointd with the intermediates today, thought they could have won that, bit too slow out of the blocks first half…They made a decent fist of it second half but were missing a bit of quality/composure up front and hit some terrible wides and took too many wrong options…Todsie was unlucky late on when he lookedlike he was in for a goal…Young O’Conner midfield imprssed me for a lad of 19…

possibly because it was a shit day weather wise but more likely that Clare have only a handful of hardcore followers, the rest are fair weather supporters.it was no surprise to me there was a crowd of just over 11,000 in the pissing rain.i think Waterford and limerick drew just over 14,000 for their semi final clash last year, that game was on a Saturday(i think) and not a bank holiday Monday which was another factor in the poor attendance yesterday.sitting in your own home in comfort or paying 20e to stand in the pissing rain on a terrace were the options…

i was delighted with the Clare performance yesterday, they took some fine scores and i look forward to the qualifiers.

Anyone else hear Pukey on the telly in the first half? Giving it loads he was.

Unfortunatelythe RTE OB Spoil Sports moved the ground mike for the second half, and that was the end of Pukies wonderful colourful dialogue.

All in all a Good day for Clare. At least The Sparrow knows who his starting 15 are which is a far cry from Midgie.
Delighted for Declan Prendergast tho’

Stick it to the the Miserable bollox when you can lads, no matter what colour your jersey

A great day for Munster hurling.

Was disappointed in the Inters myself Puke. The goal was very soft. Chaps will have nightmares about that one. I rate Kelly form Clarecastle very highly. Great man to win a ball in the air or at least fight for it on the dirt!

it amazes me how many times Fergal Lynch has to be tried (and failed) at inter county level. with all due respect to the lad , he is just not up to intercounty standard. he may be useful between jan and march in the dirty slow ground but once the balls quickens in april, he is just not up to it.

He seems off it alright, he’s game, but he’s no Gilligan.

What about Caiman Morey? He anywhere near it? He’s a prospect, and he’s very long like Honan too if i remember correctly.

Fergal Lynch had his best game ever for the county yesterday. The amount of ball he slowed down and won considering he was surrounded by youngsters was savage. Before the game I’d have completely agreed with you, but I have to admit he did a job. Colin Ryan is someone who’s intercounty future is in doubt at the moment if you ask me. He is obviously a class hurler but he is nowhere near being self sufficient. Our backs don’t deliver anything near the quality of ball he requires to thrive at corner forward and at wing forward he needs a very specialist role to get by. Have loads of time for him, but for me he was our least effective forward yesterday.

ya lynch tries his best to be fair to him.

Caiman Morey isnt on the panel this year. he is big alright but lacks a bit of pace. his form wasnt great for the clare u21 team last year. he is underage again this year so he has time on his side.

So you want to replace one of our only two forwards who can win dirty ball and replace him with who???Markham or Flaherty???

Would have Lynch over either of them, he did well once the ball was put in on top of him, lacks the mobility and hurling for this level but is physical and game as fuck and he is badly needed in what is a light forward line…The only way he will be dropped is if Quinn or James Mac return to full fitness and Diarmuid returns to the forwards

Our biggest question now is who will partner Nicky at midfield?
