Yea
Weāll see after Wednesday Joe
A shootout would surely suit Tipp more than Clare? Tipp are probably lacking a bit of pace in general, but that didnāt stop them last year. And Clare have been overly obsessed with pace in the past (supporters moreso); pace is a nice asset but it needs to be accompanied by skill, work rate, physicality, etc.
Clare have a decent full-forward line on paper, but itās still not a patch on Tippās who have by far the most firepower in the country. And Iād agree that the Tipp backline can be got atā¦ Kennedy isnāt playing that well, neither is Ronan Maher who does lack pace, Tossy Hamill similarly and Donagh Maher is no Cathal Barrett. James Barry is solid out, but I think theyād prefer to have him at full-back. If Clare actually got the ball in there, they could do serious damage. Youād hope that Kelly & Galvin wonāt do what they did the last do and hang their full-forward line out to dry, but I wouldnāt bet on it. Shanahan is a good addition in that regard, he gets his head up and finds a runner.
Butā¦ Tippās whole gameplan is based upon getting their inside line ball as quick as possible. Thatās what Ronan Maher excels at. And McCormack & Bonner facilitate the rest, McCormack will probably be told to shut down Shanahan every time he goes near the ball. And Tipp can sometimes be outworked in midfield but will Kelly & Galvin outwork them? Better hurlers for sure, but Iām not convinced they work as a combo.
Collins lucky to hold his place. And whatever about Tippās full-back line not being great, Callanan and co. must be licking their lips at the thoughts of going up against the Clare backs. Oā'Connor is a grand defender but not in great form and Callanan is the best around.
I think a shootout would suit Tipp more. I think to beat Tipp, you need to outwork them, outmuscle them in midfield and run at their slow backs. I suppose Clare could do this, but I donāt think they will.
Iāll be enjoying this one from the North Stand. Hopefully no carelessly discarded unquenched Majors ruin the day cc @ChocolateMice
Tipp should win this handy but they are a small bit of an unknown. If Kelly and Galvin get motoring in midfield Tipp are vulnerable there. Big question marks over both defences.
Iād love to see Clare surpise us all and knock out these Tipp cunts before they get near Croke Park
Conor McGrath with the right ball wont be stopped by that Tipp FB line named.
Iām delighted to be wrong on this one Mike. It seems that Iāve underestimated the draw this fixture has had on the locals. The spectacle of a packed house is a great magnet.
Its management first year we will lose but a good show has to be put on by Clare
Tin whistles at half time?
Ahh we got what we wanted this year tipp are a great team
Make tip earn a their victory to no stupid wides
Equally, Callanan with the right ball wonāt be stopped by the Clare full-back line named. But thatās it, isnāt it? Itās all about the right ball.
Movement of the Tipp forwards generally a level above though.
I was talking to a friend from Clare last night Joe. He said if ye just go out and play then ye have a great chance. Why says I. Because weāve the better hurlers he said.
we do have the Berttet hurlers but you canāt win at senior with management who still think their playing u21 cc @glasagusban @ChocolateMice @Big_Dan_Campbell
Exclusion is a form of bullying joe.
Well done. Keep it up.
Ps. Wherever ye are Iāll be only a fist swing away so be cautious.
With the state of that Clare team I think iāll stay away - Tipp x 25 points.
Sure we are there
Wonāt be making it unfortunately Joe
Clare will win this tomorrow. Galvin and Kelly will lord it. I predict it will be a bit like the Galway semi from 15 with Callinan keeping Tipp in it, ultimately though that Tipp fb line, hf line and midfield not up to it. Ronan Mahers form a worry for them too. Once Cunningham gets first run at that fb line I think itās the template for the game and panic will set in for Tipp.
