Club Championships 2009

I also attended the Mid Tipp Senior hurling final today where Drom/Inch overcame a spirited Upperchurch side. Conditions were dire but it was a very enjoyable game, a few nice scores, plenty of hard hits and a 30 man brawl.

Nobody cares about that…

They do. I bet the likes of The Puke and few other hardcore hurling fans would be interested.

[quote=“The Runt”]Results in Limerick football this weekend:

SFC Adare 1-10 Pallasgreen 1-8
SFC Dromcollogher-Broadford 3-9 Ballylanders 0-9
SFC Newcastlewest 2-12 St Kieran’s 0-5
IFC Galtee Gaels 1-7 Croom 1-4
IFC Oola 1-17 Mungret 2-6

In Group 1 Drom are now through to the Semi final.

Drom will be hard bet.

I’m stunned after seeing that Croom result, Galtee Gaels are pure muck. Croom must be totally gone to the dogs, and they with three Limerick intercounty football stars.

Heavy defeat for Mungret too.

I couldn’t believe that Galtee Gaels result either. The only thing I’m thiking is that the monsoon like conditions that prevailed over the weekend would have suited the mullocking mountain men more than the Croom nancy boys.

Is Begley still playing football?

Brian Begley?

I haven’t seen Mungret play this year so can’t be sure, but I doubt he is. Even when he was playing a hurling a couple of years ago he wasn’t playing football. Both Mungret and Oola are strange teams. Both capable of producing great results followed up by generally poor performances. Mungret have been found wanting when it really mattered the past couple of seasons, and I think Oola are short 2 or 3 players for them to seriously challenge for the intermediate title.

St. Pats will be hard bet.

+1

Yeah i was on about Brian Begley, he’s serious back problems now i believe…

word has reached me that a referee took 100 not to report a player that he had sent off today.

a new low for the GGA? i think so

Surely deserving of its own thread…

I hear all is not well at Pats though. Apparently the resumption of the junior soccer season has been affecting numbers at training and a few lads opted to play soccer instead of football last Wednesday night. This was told to me 2nd hand though so not sure how much truth is in it.

you need to keep an eye on the enemy at all times…how did the county lads go in it Runty…Was Pat Shortt to the fore for Upperchurch, thought he was going to be a flacking intercounty hurler when he was a minor but it never happened…

Would Dermot Phelan be a soccer or Gaelic man first…he is a serious soccer player

Calinan was poor, didn’t do much, I reckon he only got 1 point. He wasn’t helped by the fact that the ref had some sort of vendetta against him and refused to give him a free regardless of how many Church fellas were pulling off him. He’s lacking steel big time though, especially in conditions like today.

Woodlock was decent. Worked hard but was by no means stand out.
Eamon Buckley had a great 2nd half at center back. They had a few Butlers playing as well who were good.

Pat Short was half forward, did well and was one of the better Upperchurch forwards. He also started the brawl! They started very brightly but hit a few wides towards the end of the first half that cost em in the end.

I suppose scoring a hat trick in a munster junior cup final makes him a plodder:rolleyes:

certainly doesnt make him a serious player

have you seen him play?
