Club Championships 2009
Limerick Senior Football

Grp 1

St Senans 1-11 Monaleen 0-12

Grp 2

Claughaun 0-5 Ballysteen 0-16
My sources in Claughan tell me poor refereeing cost them this game…

Two more terrible results for GAA in limerick city/suburbs…it is as good as dead in the city now…pure joke…

They were not happy with the ref alright but in the general scheme of things it made no odds as once they went a few points behind they resorted to the usual townie shit.

For the Tipp contributors.

Whats the story with pitches in Tipp that have the stands right along the sideline and inside the wire? I’ve noticed this trend in a lot of the grounds I have visited in Tipp. In Limerick all stands are outside of the wire.

I don’t want some stupid answer like, Tipp people can be trusted to behave themselves etc.

Can we just rephrase this thread “Limerick Club Championships 2009” and delete the Tipp tripe?

There is plenty of Laois Club championship stuff here too. Also as the No1 Knowitall for both the Cork Intermediate/Senior football championships I should really do up some sort of report on the year in the Rebel County so far.

I’d imagine it’s just an issue with space, most grounds where the stands are inside the wire are probably backed right onto the boundary.
The likes of Clonmel would have the space and the stand is behind the wire.

Fair enough. I thought there was a general plan behind it, as I’ve never seen so many venues with the stands like that. Does it not pose problems if a big row errupts in front of the stand and people have free access to the pitch?

Personally, i’ve never seen any major problems, but i’ve heard of a few incidents alright.

It was lucky the crowd were outside the wire in the Claughaun Ballysteen game last night or they could have been a few incidents!

There was enough incidents on the pitch with them dirty fookers.

Definitey Runt. How do you see Ballinora v. Glanmire going on saturday, and after that we have the 2 Senior semis, Carbery v. Barrs & Clonakilty v. Bishopstown.

Then on sunday Aghada v. Valleys in Intermediate hurling followed by Cill Na Matra v. Carrigalin in the Intermediate Football final.

Glanmire by 3
Clon by 2
Carbery by 3
Cill na Martra by 4

Oliver Plunketts 2/1
Kilmacud Crokes 11/4
St Vincents 6/1
Ballymun Kickhams 12/1
St Brigids (Dublin) 14/1
St Marys Saggart 16/1
Ballyboden St Endas 20/1
Ucd 25/1

St Peregrines 50/1

reckon ballymun and ballyboden are a good eachway bets at them prices…both should defo be in last 8 as they are playing much weaker teams in next round…vincents aren’t going well at all…plunketts still have problems in defence…Crokes could still be tired after last year’s exertions…

Interesting, i’d go with 3 of those 4. I’d go with Ballinora, as the game is down the Pairc and the huge pitch will suit them if they keep it away from Cussen. Glanmire are limited enough outside of Fraggie, Cussen and James Murphy for frees.

A dispicable bunch that lot from Inniscarra.

Ok Kev, I will take your advice on board but the stats analysis package I am running, coupled with my own observations have Glanmire winning by 3.
