Club Championships 2010

The way things are going  football is already way more competitive.
A better game to watch? Not a chance lad hurling remains the greatest game to watch of them all

Thats your opinion, but i have grown to appreciate football more and more as the years have gone by. I like thats its faster now, and the hits are bigger. There are parts i wish were a bit like the past, more the players than anything and that the rolling around or faking injuries doesn’t creep in. But generally a faster game is a better game. There has been players who have made it through to be IC footballers based on athleticism, but i believe this will fade now or soon as the young players coming through are all of the extremely athletic variey, and the most skillful of them will come through.

Hurling has too little outstanding games anymore, and dour tactics have ruined many a game for me. The first touch of so many hurlers at IC level is muck, and the gound game (still extremely effective) has almost totally dissolved.

I listen to fellas give out about football yet they haven’t watched a full game in years, its pretty retarded, and boring at this stage.

Anyone who thinks Football is better than (or comes remotely close to) hurling is an idiot of high proportions.

in your opinion

Hurling has a wider range of far more impressive skills. It is a vastly superior game, gaelic football is more akin to rugby, albeit played at a faster pace.

thats a common misconception that hurling is a skillful game- shinty is much more skillful- in stickhurling you catch the ball & lash it down the field - there is no subltety to it therefore its not skillfull

Nonsensical gibberish

huh?

Was working out in Fingal recently (Portmarnock specifically)and was suprised to see lads out coursing hares. Is lamping popular out your way aswell NCC?

no

I disagree. Hurling is faster, this is what its sold itself on forever. But skills, and actual skills now, there is very little difference. Hurling at the highest level is excellent, at times, but can be absolutely desperate to watch or play in below Senior/Intermediate club, or maybe Junior A in the big counties. In football you can find decent teams and excellent games at all levels.

So maybe football is better because it is easier!

Football is nothing really like rugby because ;

  • Its in play far longer
  • Its played with a different ball
  • The tackle is completely different
  • There is a far higher number of “scores” in an average game. Not points now, actual scores.
  • Players are far more interchangeable in positions in football

What they do have in common is they are both played by 15 men, and usually really men unlike the primadonnas playing knackerball all over the world.

the international rules put that myth to bed

Proving my point, the soccer fan thinks fighting makes you a man. Why don’t you come down to Cork sometime and we’ll see how manly you are.

was in mahon last week - ill give you a shout next time im down

Which accounts for about ninety percent of competition.

Do, and come closer to the city, ain’t no hospital out that way, only graveyards.

No it doesn’t. Outside the big 3 and a handful of teams in other counties, its all brutal. As much for the focus on physical fitness in football, its hurt hurling way harder.

will do - bring stumpy along too

I’ll leave the baseball bat at home, you beat women, you shouldn’t be too much trouble.

“baseball bat” & odd & cruel petname for your bird
