CoC getting big into the verbals nowadays it seems

I take your point though Connolly was doing more than dipping the toe at county u21. I suppose what it boil down to for me is this. I have no real issue with dual players who were better footballers concentrating on football at adult level. Connolly, McHugh, Lowndes, Cooper, Rory O Carroll all fall into that category. What is very frustrating (though understandable) is lads who are better hurlers declaring for football anyway. Keaney, Dotsy, Ross O Carroll, Costello, Kilkenny and Con fall into this category in my opinion. Dublin is a bigball town as far as GAA is concerned so the favoring of football while disappointing is understandable.

thought keaney, while an exceptional hurler, got a raw deal with dubs footballers in The end ā€¦ He was dublin club footballer of the year in 2009 from full forward yet never got a sustained run there. When you see the amount of chances o gara got there before he put in a performanceā€¦ Iā€™d have Dotsy as good a footballer as hurler. Con to me is a better footballerā€¦ Both o Carrolls were better hurlersā€¦ I presume the schutte lad is a better hurler? Never saw him play football

Mark Schutte is a way better hurler who wasted a couple of years carrying water for the footballers. Con is a freak of nature but after watching him terrorise kilmacud last sunday after not hurling for almost a year I have come to the conclusion he is a better hurler!

Con is probably in the top 5 footballers in the country. I strongly doubt heā€™s a better hurler. Same with Kilkenny

I have seen Costello and Kilkenny hurling in the senior b championship in Dublin a few times in recent years and neither were any way dominant, especially Costello who didnā€™t stand out in the slightest. By the same token Eamonn Dillon would be double marked and cause absolute rack for Finbarrs at the same level.

Id agree on their performances in recent years but Its not fair to judge Costello and Kilkenny when they are only playing a match or two a year.

I suppose the point I am trying to make is that the opportunity for these lads ever to throw their hat in with the Dublin hurlers is long gone.

Agreed. That ship has probably sailed. Having said that Keaney came back at 29 years of age and made a fair fist of it. However he had been playing plenty of hurling with Ballyboden in the intervening years

True and he had hurled Senior for Dublin in the past before concentrating on the football . Also he ( same as Con) hurled for a club in serious contention for real honours

Tomas Brady and Ross Oā€™Carroll too

Unusual occurrence in Antrim tonight, but everyone seems okay with the chairman intervening:

I saw the end of that live on Twitter

Must be the first drawn shoot out ever

Although perhaps Antrim did have a few drawn shoot-outs during the Troubles

Have a wee dig there pal but people died up here while you intellectualised it all.

Iā€™m not sure who you think Iā€™m having a dig at

I donā€™t agree with shootouts to decide important games, but was the chairman not involved in the decision in the first place?

You made a joke about shoot outs. Maybe youā€™ve been in the middle of one. If so, OK, joke away.

But who was I having a dig at?

The people in Antrim who were involved in shoot-outs ā€œduring the Troublesā€
