Interesting. I was arguing here that limerick needs to follow that. The case is that the u17 county hurling games fucked up 4 club championshipsā€¦ hurling & football at 16 & minor

There was a small bit of resistance at first, iirc though Laois were one of the trial counties, and just went the whole hog over the last 2 years. There was a cunt of a set up last year where we had 17, 18, 19 and U21, but that was the only year of the overlap at those grades and its all settled down now.

Its insane that some counties are doing it one way and others another. So GAA.

Has this ever been punished?

Tuohy did it to Bonner this year, Maguire did it a few years ago, Iā€™m sure there are plenty of other examples.

Iā€™m all for hitting hard and cleaning out a fella if you have to but leading with a thigh-high foot and consistently getting away with it is wrong.

This is a hard one for refs to spot because everyone is watching the ball to see if it hits the net. Hence the way to go here is retrospective suspensions. I wouldnā€™t be surprised if the DCB nail Nolan for this because they suspended Maguire retrospectively last year for a similar challenge.

Eoin Murphy did a two footed version of it on Rory Oā€™Connor when he went clean through against Kilkenny in Innovate* Wexford Park this summer too, but Wexford got a 65 out of it when some lad cleared the shot off the line.

*naming rights currently up for renewal and all expressions of interest should be made to Wexford GAA
