Glenmore ended up junior in Kilkenny.
Think Laune Rangers are Junior now in Kerry.
Iād image thereās loadsā¦ When was first clubs all ireland? Early 70s?.. Very hard for all clubs to be going strong nearly 50 years laterā¦ Are UCD even allowed in dublin championship anymore? @Spidey @binkybarnes
Caltra in Galway.
The Kerry club championship is savage tough. Ardfert have won the all ireland intermediate club twice, last in 2015 and were relegated back down intermediate again the following year.
Thereās only 8 senior clubs now. Crokes, Stacks, Dingle, Gaeltacht, Rahillys etc thereās no room for error.
Kilcummin were relegated from senior in 2017, and won the all ireland intermediate the following year.
Sean Treacys win intermediate in Tipp. Large geographical area but not many households. Think they only had the bear 20 lads to pick from this year. Ravaged by emmigration. Not sure if they lead Kiladangan until a last minute normal time goal and kicked on with a flurry of late points. It would want to be some storm that would put out the bonfires up there tonight.
No - gone a good few years now Iād say
Given the Kerry intermediate winners are essentially the 9th best club team in the county, itās no wonder they have such a good record in the All Ireland club championship. Dublinās intermediate winners would be close to the 33rd best club team in the county in comparison.
Thatās their own fault though
Ya, and the lads from the top intermediate side would likely have spent a large part of the summer playing against senior teams in the club only championship and with their divisional teams
Itās why these intermediate and junior provincial and national competitions are a bit of a farce really
To be fair that was always the way in Kerry . Long long before the inter and junior club all Irelands .
Your own county suffers in such competitions due to so many senior teams .
I think Kilkenny have relatively few senior hurling teams .
Ah yeah I have no problems with countries running their competition in whatever way they deem fit, it just means that the intermediate and junior competitions donāt really tell us anything once it gets outside the county
The same happened Cookstown in Tyrone at intermediate level and Rock at junior level. The way the Kerry Championship is ran is unfair in contrast to the other counties. Iām glad Tyrone treat their club championships like a meritocracy, I have a big issue with the Kerry Championships in terms of fairness, I donāt think they should be allowed field teams in the All Ireland series at Intermediate and Junior Level.
Link to the Cross game.
Lovely backdrop of fireworks to Amhran na bhFiann.
Mordee Clerk is a very good pundit/co commentator.
