Ballygunner have plenty of competition for that particular accolade. Munster Club Champions have won just 4 of the last 31 All Irelands. Three of those four final wins were against Antrim clubs.

Cos he’s a header on the field who started fights with half the county in his playing days perhaps. Grand lad off it. He’s improving as he learns he was raw over the college there for a few years.

Jaysus. I’d forgotten about Stapleton girl but the others were news to me.
A former player and selector in his 40s choked on a sucky sweet and died in the summer of 2018 too.
They’ve had it rough
Paddy Stapletons sister losing her battle with illness, couple of suicides in the area too.
They’ve rallied massively up there, built on more playing fields and made good headway with a club house also.
They have some great people involved too and are a decent bunch.

They have always had hurlers but never enough to consistently compete underage especially. Last year’s under 12 was their first County A title underage ever I believe.
The addition of young players like Ray McCormack Devanny and Jerry Kelly in the last 2/3 years as well as the kildare contingent has made a massive difference.
Spare a thought for their former goalkeeper who had been there for a number of years before taking a year out this year to focus on accountancy exams.
