GOAL Port.
2-13 to 0-11 and that should be that.
GOAL Port.
2-13 to 0-11 and that should be that.
Colm Murphy with a THIRD Port goal, heās been unrale.
14 man Vincentās get last minute goal to send game to extra time , poor stuff all told
3-13 to 0-13
Port are back! 4th title in 5 years. A real vindication win for them when everyone thought they were done, even their previous manager. Were down about half a team earlier in the year, relegated from Division 1 but had it well pulled together even before the boys came back from Australia.
This one will be the absolute sweetest.
In Down, Kilcoo beat Burren 1-10 to 4. An awful spectacle, Liam Kerr is the best forward in the county by a distance and was sent off for 2 yellow cards for wrestling with an opponent on the ground. Danny Magill, another intercounty forward, also sent off so Burren finished with 13. Any young fella with talent has little business playing football in Down at the minute, itās probably the same across most counties.
Look at the video on the Clare gaa group, hopefully Jim Gavin can save football next weekend
Glen beat Slaughtneil 1-9 to 0-9 in the big Derry game that was played in Owenbeg rather than Celtic Park.
Na fianna won by 3 points after extra time
Just watching todayās game and a major flaw with one of Jimās proposals is already spotted - how to police the new goalkeeper rule. Rule is ball canāt be passed to the keeper inside his own half. Expect Bobo Kane to be listed at number 15 for Kilcoo next year and Jerome Johnston to start in the keepers jersey.
Ah surely youād have to make a rule that certain players are specifically designated as a Goalkeeper? If not, you are correct that itāll be found out very quickly as a rule
Not sure thatāll work. Itās why the keeper must wear a different jersey. Only keeper can pick the ball in the square etc.
Iām very cynical after todayās game, but for a stage the Burren keeper played wing forward with another outfield player in goal. A keeper can touch the ball on the ground in his own square and canāt be shouldered in his own square, there are many coaches who would give both them up if it meant they could continue with their negative style. The rule about him having to be inside his own square if another player takes the kick out would complicate things a little alright.
Sounds like it was a cracker. Cahair with a great report here.

Glen will beat Newbridge in the Final by whatever they like and should build from here to set up a showdown with Kilcoo in mid December.
Kilmacud Crokes 2-23 Lucan 1-13
Na Fianna 0-26 St Vincents 1-21 (AET)
Not a bad day to put down in Parnell Park today. The first game was a damp squib, but the second was exciting in many ways.
Lucan never got out of the traps at all and were four points down after three minutes and were chasing after that all day. Iād alluded that Crokes had played with a sweeper in the past which had blunted their attack. However today they operated with 6 forwards and put on a display that will bump them up the @peddlerscross POWER RANKINGS. David Purcell started his first senior game and clipped 5 points as an 18 year old. Heās the best young forward Iāve seen in Dublin. Conall O Riain added 1-2. They were 7 points up at half time. Lucan had a penalty saved early in the second half and two Crokes goals in the next 5 mins finished the contest. Lucan got a consolation finishing up. It was a day when their main men were held well/not show up. Theyāve still to get to a final in the last 10 years despite being in the knockout stages in 9 of them. Crokes will step into the final with a real pep in their step. The challenge vs Ballygunner was good for them and now will be bullish going into the final after such a good performance and the panel depth they have.
The second game brought the drama to the day between the two local rivals. I started with a penalty save by Vins keeper Dara Perry after a minute from Donal Burke. The referee added to the occassion by not using his whistle or notebook. Na Fianna lost two players to big hits in the 1st half. One of them should/couldāve been a red. The first half was tit for tat. Darach McBride impressive up front again for Vins while Sean Currie and Brian Ryan were sharp at midfield for Naf. Naf began to exert their dominance in the 2nd half but could not extend their lead beyond 3 points. They were sucker punched in injury time when Conor Burke goaled. Vins also had Cian McBride get a straight red in injury time which would tell in ET. Na Fianna got ahead on the second period of extra time due to some frees from Colin Currie and Donal Burke. Vins will regret some easy placed ball misses. Its defeat in extra time for the second year in a row in the semis for Vins. They died with their boots on and lads like Darach McBride and Brian Moorehouse Carroll deserve a call up to Dublin. Na Fianna will be relieved to get over today but know a much better performance will be needed if they are to compete for silverware the next day.
Kilmacud played Turloughmore the previous week on the BOICMC so they are really building nicely.
I see the final is fixed for the ungodly hour of 7.45pm on Saturday Oct 26th so i take it, it will be live on RTE.
There definitely needs to be some changes to the rules in football. But they canāt bring in all the rules it would be a different sport. I donāt like the arc and I absolutely hate the inside mark advantage rule. They should just do away with the inside mark altogether.
The three up could work and I think the tap and go free makes good sense. 4 points for a goal would only make teams more defensive because 4 points is massive.
Not sure the goalie rule really solves anything either. The goalie creating a mismatch in numbers increases attacking opportunities and leads to some jeopardy with not having a goalie in.
Yep itās on TV I think. Should be a rattler.
Ah the goalie caused more negatives than positives. It was a safe out ball and it was bet to death. Fuck goalies. Leave them in goals
The goalie thing could be huge. You could really aggressively āpush upā and there would be no free man to pass to
My rule proposal would be three backs and three forwards stand inside the 13 while the keeper kicks it out and it has to clear the 45.
