Club Championships 2026/2027

He’s having a bit of a mare

Another bad mistake

Mullins are doing most of the hurling

You’d have to say their throwing of the ball matches up well with any other county

The best final of any sport played in the world today

Hon Mullins. This is great stuff

Dessie is finding a bit of form

The big number 20 for MLR has made some big catches when his teammates have been at nothing

Pick the fucking thing up

Oh jesus christ that is some rush of blood to the head. Mullins should have won this

Why didn’t he lift it?

A throwback to proper hurling. As entertaining a game of hurling as I’ve seen this year. None of this running between the lines or systems hurling shite.

That’s two top end county hurling finals we’ve seen so far this year

The Club game is where it’s at

For now, the net is closing

We can only speak of now

Ah there was plenty running through the lines in fairness

Big shock in the Antrim SHC tonight. Last years Intermediate champions beat last years County Champions St Johns in the first qf. 2.20 to 1.16. Hopefully Ballycastle keep the shocks coming tomorrow.

That was an enjoyable night in Netwatch Dr Cullen Park. The 45 minutes of it, that I caught anyway. I was under a bit of pressure time wise with a busy schedule of underage matches all day in West Waterford. I got there at 7.20. There were just two turnstiles open into the ground at that stage with huge queues outside. Lot of people ended up missing first 15 minutes. The stewards and fellows on the turnstiles couldn’t have been any less helpful.

Rangers were leading 2-5 to 0-5 when I got in. I’m sitting down now to watch the first 15 minutes or so. I felt St Mullins did most of the hurling from there but it took a huge effort to claw back the differential. They needed a few goals. The one they got almost didn’t count as it was handed back straight away with that goalkeeping calamity. Could see it unfolding from where I was sitting. Seamus Murphy in the St Mullins goal was initially shaping to bat away the ball. Then he seemed to change his mind, but left it so late he didn’t seem able to propel himself off the ground to catch it. It was some howler.

A bit like Jamie Barron in Waterford final, you’d have put the house on Mouse to score that goal. He was caught in no man’s lands a bit though. His legs are starting to go, he should have brought it in closer, but didn’t seem to trust himself to have the legs to do that.

Ultimately Rangers had the younger legs over the closing minutes and got a scoring kick off their bench too and St Mullins butchered another goal scoring chance near the end when they should have picked it.

Just the right amount of heavy hitting, needle and afters in it too, without ever really boiling over in to the kind of scenes that everybody wants to see.

A lot of them would be cousins, inter-county teammates and would’ve gone to secondary school together in Borris so I’d imagine it’s a good, honest rivalry despite the close proximity of it.

He didn’t seem to be as effective for Carlow this year either. Chris Nolan is now the preeminent forward.

Only stepped in to the goal the last year or two. Pushing 40 and carrying too much timber to hurl senior out the field. He was back hurling intermediate before the goalkeeper vacancy came up. I’d have had him down as a good stickman but by the sounds of it he made a couple of blunders tonight.

What county champion will MLR be playing in Leinster? Haven’t seen the draw online anywhere this year. The change from the clay court blitz should give them a better chance. I think it’s 2017 since they last won a match in Leinster.
