Club Championships 2026/2027

St Finbarrs have a very realistic chance at a double.

Very much looking forward to Munster Club in both codes this winter. The football championship is very underrated, with 6 different winners in the last 6 years and Dingle obviously proving Munster’s quality with their AI win. A team that controversially should have lost to St Finbarrs in the MF.

Even outside of Cork/Kerry, teams like Eire Og, Clonmel Commercials, Mungret would all give it a rattle.

They seem to handing out some awful hammerings in Kildare but you’d wonder is the one sided nature of that championship doing them any favours outstide it.

They were so bad in that game on TV last year, its very hard to trust them again after it.

You’d have to wonder if they’ll put up a big enough score to win games. Only scored the 12-29 the last day…

I think Athenry (still at 9/1) are a serious value bet for Galway. They’re a wan man team for the most part but Rabbitte is playing some savage stuff.

I think the standard has dropped off in Galway a reasonable bit this year considering Loughrea’s injuries and slow start.

I wouldn’t put anything on last year. I think they were gone stale. Different approach this year.

Senior Hurling semi finals and Premier Intermediate and Intermediate Finals this weekend in Laois.

In the Senior, the best little dual Club in Laois in Rosenallis take on the might of Camross in one, and the recent big dogs Clough Ballacolla take on The Harps in the other.

Camross are by no means vintage, but you’d expect they might have a little too much for Rosenallis. However Rosenallis, do have a few tricks up their sleeve and in David Dooley they have the Laois hurling captain and a great bit of stuff. They’re having some year, in the Senior B Football final as well, and have John O Loughlin over them and having opened their fancy new clubhouse recently, they are buzzing. They’ll have a right cut at it.

In the other, Clough Ballacolla will be looking forward to putting Ken Hogans Harps in their box. You’d suspect they’ll manage it too, especially given the scutching they handed out to Portlaoise some weeks ago, they look to be starting to motor.

In the Premier Intermediate, we have got the final we hoped for. All whupping Castletown will take on Camross’ second team. There’s no way on Gods earth the Camross second team should beat this Castletown side, but as I’ve flagged previously, Camross has been eying up this one for bauldness for some time, so take care. If Castletown arent on it, they could be caught. But there’s no fear, they are having a great year across the codes, they lost (TBC that one apparently) a Junior B, won a Junior A, and now have their eyes set on a return to Senior. They most likely wont be stopped.

In the Intermediate its the little Club that could, Slieve Bloom against Moun…wait a minute, nope Mountrath were smoked by The Harps second side in the semi final, thereby denying us of a double neighbours clash on Saturday sadly. The Harps have brought through a hape of hurlers, and look to have their gradings spot on, so Slieve Bloom will need to be on it here. But in Ben and Ciaran Conroy they have serious scoring power, and I think they’ll do it.

Between Castletown and Slieve Bloom, I expect Mountrath to be hopping over the weekend at some stage. Which may not please Mountrath.

Good run down. Agreed about not wanting another ballygunner na piarsigh game. They must be fed up of the sight of each other.
Two huge semi final in kilkenny and wexford next Sunday, with the favourites drawn against each other. Rathnure st Martins depends a lot on whether rory is back. Rathnure are a very solid side with quality all over without any real superstar. Aj Redmond plays the sweeper role to perfection. Martins have a few injuries and have a football seni final this Sunday. Rathnure focus fully on hurling.

Ballyhale thomastown is a mouthwatering tie. Ballyhale beat them well last year but ttown look back on track . They can match Ballyhale for physicality and are very well drilled. The donnellys and luke connellan are going well up front and dispatched clara with ease in the 1/4.

I passed through Mountrath a couple of years ago and, to put it mildly, it’s difficult to envisage it hopping. Burst balls don’t bounce……

Clubber is great. Sat down at half 4 to watch a multitude of games. There’s a rollicking good senior semi-final ongoing in Roscommon. Forum favourites Boyle currently trailing Pádraig Pearses by 2-11 to 1-12. Boyle have 4 marquee forwards of inter-county standard but just don’t have it at the back I feel. They conceded a very soft goal from a speculative punt in the first-half. I’ve been keeping an eye on St Rynagh’s v Kilcormac-Killoughey where Rynagh’s led by a point at the interval but KK will presumably win out by about 4 points for a finish. Caught a few minutes of Danesfort relegating Erin’s Own in Kilkenny and Cloughbawn almost throwing away a late 7 point lead against Starlights in the intermediate football semi-final. There’ll be no senior hurling or football team in Enniscorthy next year.

Clubber is brilliany value allright.

Breaffy knocked out by Castlebar. Aido won’t do the double. It’s not looking good for Boyle either. Trailing by 2 with 2 to go.

My word that’s some finish to Pearses v Boyle. A two pointer from Donie Smith put Boyle in front before Pearses went down the field and scored a similarly long range 2 pointer to level it. 2-18 to 1-21.

Kilcormac-Killoughey and Rynagh’s also gone to extra-time.

castleknock are the first team into the Dublin senior final, Beat Thomas Davis by 5 points , 3-12 to 0-26. They’ll be up against it in final Against Cuala or Boden .

The forums beloved Slieve Bloom win the Intermediate Hurling in Laois after a mighty second half

Camross have rattled the absolute shit out of Castletown and were 5 points up at one stage but 2 Castletown goals finally has them up by 4 and in control going into the last 10 minutes but Camross haven’t gone away yet

Camross with a 21 yard free to draw it!!!

Annnnnnnd

SAVED!

Castletown go down and a point from Tom Og puts them 4 up

And that’s it!

Fucking hell Camross made them earn it!

2-23 to 1-22.
