What’s wrong with the blade ones?

Any love for the aeropress round these parts. Got one last week and it’s changed my life in ways I never imagined.

I’ve only been so going it’s praises for the last 4 years now.

It’s a great piece of kit. Got a milk foamer today and I’ve never been happier. Next step is to grab a scales and start experimenting with recipes. Using the sierre blend of this at the moment it’s unreal …

Do post up your findings. I tend to get into a coffee arms race with myself of just making it stronger and stronger but i’m fairly certain I am not getting the best out of it that way. I have it in the office, generally use the bellarom Colombian coffee from Lidl, it’s very nice for a cheap coffee.

A good espresso machine is fussy about the grind - it needs to be even and adjustable to account for humidity, freshness and type of beans. The temperature of the water in contact with the coffee, and the length/time of extraction depends on the power of the machine and the coarseness of the grind.
Plus the blades burn some of the coffee.

A great article- ‘blooming’ takes it to a new level- especially if your coffee is fairly fresh and/or freshly ground

I imagine you are somewhere in Europe. You wouldn’t get a coffee like that in Ireland.

Maxwell House?

Always changing as well, the hipster chap who owns it is a very nice fellow,

The coffee in Central Europe is off the hook though, you’ve better coffee in Austria, Hungary and the Czech Republic than you get in Italy, even the Spar have great coffee

The bizarre thing is that despite there being absolutely top notch coffee shops on every street in the cities, Starbucks and Costa still attract a huge crowd, seems incredible but that’s the way it’s gone,

Is the Coffee good in Poland as well @balbec, I can’t get over the quality (I’m an espresso drinker, occasional americano)

Ah yeah, very good. Krakow was part of the Austrian empire until 1918 so the cafe culture is very similar. Lots of Starbucks here as well though.
