GPA in this case. But both the GPA and CPA were against the proposals.
The GPA are useless cunts. I may have mentioned that here somewhere before
The GPA had a proposal a while back that wouldâve had a bigger impact on club games âŚI think
My fucking holidays will be ruined with lads annoying me for tickets.
Where has this been announced?
Is it not still to be decided upon, given that the Super 8 motion and the motion bringing the All-Ireland finals forward were separate?
Only a matter of time before hurling demands a similar Super 8 structure.
The hurling championship will be pretty much dwarfed by football with this new system.
Get in there.
Something like this looks a tight squeeze.
Three questions that have to be addressed will be:
i) Do replays in the hurling championship continue as per previous years?
ii) Will the All-Ireland hurling semi-finals be played over one weekend?
iii) Is the A/B qualifier system in the football championship gone now? One would presume so.
iv) A team who had a replay after extra-time in the football qualifiers could conceivably end up playing seven weeks in a row. A team who loses a replayed provincial football final could conceivably end up playing for six weeks in a row.
Sample calendar for 2018:
Late April - June 2: provincial preliminary rounds to provincial semi-finals
June 3: Munster Football Final, Connacht Football Final
June 9 Football qualifiers Round 2
June 10: Leinster Football Final, Ulster Football Final
June 16: Football Qualifiers Round 3
June 17: Leinster Hurling Final, Hurling Qualifiers Round 1
June 23/24: Munster Hurling Final, Football Qualifiers Round 4
July 1: Hurling Qualifiers Round 2
July 8: All-Ireland Football Super 8 Round 1
July 14: All-Ireland Football Super 8 Round 2
July 15: All-Ireland Hurling Quarter-finals
July 21/22: All-Ireland Football Super 8 Round 3
July 28/29: All-Ireland Hurling Semi-Finals
August 4/5: All-Ireland Football Semi-Finals
August 12: All-Ireland Hurling final
August 26: All-Ireland Football final
OMFG!
Itâs been confirmed
When is one supposed to take holidays
I think bringing the finals forward is a great idea.
I think hurling should adopt a super 8 pronto, actually a super ten.
Not a problem for us.
At least the hurling final wonât clash with the Electric Picnic anymore.
Hurling final to 19th and allow more flex in the schedule
12th is good.
Wonât have that elegiac back to school feeling either.
As far as Iâm aware, the plan is to keep a two week gap between the hurling and football finals, although Iâm open to correction on this.
There would actually have to be a 3 week gap between the All-Ireland hurling semi-final weekend and the final, not 2 as per my example, to allow for a replay, otherwise a team could be playing for the third week in a row in an All-Ireland final. Thatâs an extra week added already.
Also, even with extra-time in all but the provincial finals, youâll still get replays in the football championship, and that will mess up the schedule.
Realistically, youâd have to start the football championship well back into April to give proper breathing space in the calendar, and then youâre encroaching back onto the league.
I presume the last two games in each of the Super 8 football groups will be played simultaneously?
September is cunt of a month even with All-Ireland finals.
The winter will be lengthened significantly without them.
Same as ourselves so. Only 3 non players anyway really involved with the club.
Only 6 counties play mate
