Some crackers, enjoyed the show immensely

I particularly enjoyed the performance of Chrissy Amphlett of the Divinyls.

I think we’ve all agreed that Smells like Teen Spirit wins this.

Lock the thread.

Lounge Act is better

I’d personally list 4 or 5 nirvana songs ahead of it but SLTS ticks all the boxes

It’s not a patch on the original

This isn’t the greatest riff of all time

I reckon if you polled the population of Manchester for the greatest Manchester song of all time it comes down to this and Don’t Look Back in Anger and this wins by a short head.

If you win the Manchester music county championship it’s a bit like winning the Dublin SFC as regards your chances of the bigger prize.

Things I learned today: The riff for Love Will Tear Us Apart was somewhat bought/borrowed from this, by agreement.

I don’t think it’s that similar though.

Fab tune didnt know about the other song that preceeded it. The bass line is the riff/Hook all over for sure.

It is probably my favourite song ever. I’d say it’s 35 years ago since I first heard it and I only listened to it again yesterday. It packs an almighty punch in terms of brilliance for me.

Agree on Hook. Probably the best ever bassist in my opinion.

I had to look under the cover to see what you were on about.

It’s easily my favourite. Just has the lot

What a bassist indeed. TBH, Joy Division could have a few contenders for this award, Transmission, Shes lost control are 2 cracking tunes off the top of my head, Curtis’s passionate vocals layered on top of Hooks bass guitar, timeless classics that never get old, a bit like Ian Curtis I guess.

While we’re going around the house…

Bizarre love triangle

Your man Hannett on production was huge as well. Very eerie, sparse sound with Curtis’s lyrics. Fantastic band. New Order are nowhere near for me.

Still have some belters but it was something different

For me its Joy Division all day long, hard to beat the original.

Nonetheless, fair play to the lads who carried on with the brilliant New Order. Think their sound, very much influenced the dance scene of the late 80s early 90s.

2 pioneers and giants in the history of music.

@Sidney was a man of impeccable taste and it was nice he could be in agreement with Farmer on musical matters the odd time.

Madonna - Into The Groove

Probably the ultimate pop single ever released. Ultimate as in best.
