Contenders for the greatest song of all time

One for the shit covers thread which doesn’t exist. Even at 1.3 speed it’s borderline (see what I did there) unlistenable.

Also it’s probably not real.

Depeche Mode - Into The Groove

Joy division are a Macclesfield band. Nowhere near Manchester really.

Ian Curtis worked in the disability claims office in Macclesfield. And then he got epilepsy.

Some would say they were a Salford band.

Macclesfield is in Derbyshire.

One of my favourite occasional hobbies is drawing an arbitrary line on the map to determine what is the North of England and what is not.

I hope that some day there will be a major social media culture war over the issue of whether Macclesfield, Chesterfield, Ellesmere Port, Worksop and Grimsby are in the North of England.

Or not.

May 14th, 1980. He’s telling you.

They’re a Macclesfield band. Few would dispute that.
Macclesfield is in the north alright. Congleton is probably the start of the north midlands.
It’s a stonewall classic.
Macclesfield is an absolutely great town. I love the place.

Macclesfield is east Cheshire I think.

Corrected. Cheshire is not a proper northern county.

No, it’s not really, but Derbyshire north is I think, and that’s a bit south. Cheshire is its own strange ecosystem. Great wealth and great poverty. If Macclesfield was on the sea it would be perfect.

Stoke is more northern than Chester.

Id agree.
How are you doing anyway?
My pal is headed back to work over in Manchester and will flit betwixt and between. He didn’t enjoy working in Galway at all. He was going to go to Limerick and work there, he knows he’d have loved it, but his wife decided she wasn’t for moving and he can’t live without her. He’s a nervous wreck.
He feels a bit better this evening now it’s done.
Strange.

I’m good the last three days after being Ian Curtis like on Tuesday. I’ve been playing Joy Division riffs on the bass since Wednesday.

Not having a washing machine doesn’t help but that’s been sorted.

I wish your mate luck and good fortune. Tell him I’m asking for him. If you see him.

I will. Are you in Galway? You can tell him yourself. He’s about for a while yet.
He’s had so much luck and good fortune he reckons he’s paying a bit of the balance this past year.

My mate’s mate is in Dublin currently but will be in Galway on Wednesday for sure. Maybe Tuesday.

Good bit of small and large ball to get through, if nothing else.
Usual spot?

My mate’s mate loves that place. He hasn’t been following much ball of any size or shape lately though so he’s a bit of a blank canvas.
