The Independent Club Licensing Committee met this evening (22/02/10) and unanimously decided to refuse the Premier Division Licence application of Cork City Investment FC Ltd.
Having carefully considered the application and all of the documentation submitted it was the view of the Committee that the club fell seriously short of the criteria required to fulfil a Premier Division Licence in a number of areas.
The committee also considered the application from Friends of the Rebel Army Society (FORAS) and agreed to grant a First Division Licence for the 2010 season.
i think we all knew that was to be the case but what is left is even more confusing.
Quintas the 3 man consortium were only going to buy the club on condition they got a premier league license, as they now have not got that Quintas i presume are not going to invest in the the existing shambles and tomorrow morning tommy no bobs will be left all alone in front of justice laffoy w/o the money to pay the revenue.
i now am aware that the new club will not have any Quintas involvment, it is now purely a supporturs club and will go on the name Cork City FORAS CO-OP FC.
this was the inevitable conclusion but the facts foras couldnt see it & whored themselves out to anyone with a few euros doesnt bode well for the future
one of sporting fingal / pats / galway / sligo will be gone b4 we get to november.
that i can confidently state
the only 2 clubs i can see with a reasonable set up are rovers and UCD.
in 5 years time id imagine we will have a SPL situation where the only 2 clubs play each other 4 times a year to decide the title.
wexford youths may make it a tri nations situation but TBH they are more of a coaching center for developing young players than a competitive football club.
when galway and sligo are gone in a few months they can just rename the whole thing to the greater dublin league.
LOI football is dead officially.
Cork City is to be wound up after the deal to buy the club by the Quintas Group fell through following the Independent Club Licensing Committee’s decision to deny the club a Premier Division licence.
The decision of the licencing committee means that the deal to buy Cork City FC from Tom Coughlan will now not go ahead and the club will be wound up by the High Court on Tuesday at 2pm.
Peter Gray, Michael O’Connell and FORAS, the Cork City Supporters Trust made up the Quintas Group.
A spokesperson for the group said: 'With the decision of the Licencing Committee not to grant a Premier League licence, we’re unable to proceed with our bid.
‘Unfortunately, this means that the club will be wound up, with devastating consequences for staff, players and creditors.’
‘This is a sad day for us, the FAI and Cork City, as we are now left
without top-flight soccer in the country’s second city.’
yeah, there still has been no press release on who exactly will be applying for the first division licence.
the 2 lads with the cash o connell and gray will not be involved so now itll just be a FORAS thing.
given that FORAS have no players or ground i cannot see this happening.
CCFC used to rent it from the MFA.
i cannot see where FORAS could get the capital to rent it from the MFA.
also the MFA are probably owed money from CCFC which they now will never see so i cannot imagine them been too charitable to FORAS.
they could probably end up renting flower lodge / pairc ui rinn off the cork county board the way things are going…
and turenne, a good few years ago down in that old shithole castlemartyr pitch there was a retarded ould fell who used to attend every game with a battered ould red jersey tied around his waist, he used to spend the game roaring inane shite behind the goals.
is that your ould man by any chance?
