Anyway we won 3-6 to 0-10. Game over with 20 to go apparently, Micheal Cahalane did all the damage again. Considering we were - literally - missing 7-8 starters, it is a remarkable win.
Unfortunately thanks to the utterly moronic championship structure Cork get to play Tipp in a straight knock game in Tipp, while Kerry are pretty much guaranteed to get into an AI quarter final.
Also, Imokilly beat CIT by a goal in the Hurling senior championship. I assume Cobh have a few on the panel, think ye had a Lee Murphy starting half-forward the last day, never heard of him.

Remarkable indeed if you beat them with only 7 or 8 players.
Some panel. How does it work how often would these lads train together away from their clubs? And is the corner back a traveller named Barry twomey that they just can’t understand?
A serious division would meet once a week, traditionally Monday nights. Alot if them Turn up on the night though.
Duhallow(North-West Cork) in football are very well organized and meet regularly. Carbery (West Cork) would have the most talented team but would wait usually to see how the first round goes as to see how they go.
I was the trainer for Muskerry one year and we did 4 training sessions and had 5 challenge games. We lost a 1st round replay to star studded CIT. you only get one shot back then. Now it’s round robin. Politics plays a part. Muskerry is very divided but always has a great selection. When the manager is from the West of the division it tends to be full of Western lads and visa versa with the East. At the moment Muskerry has Goulding, Sheehan, Noel O Leary, Tom Kenny, 3 Goulds, Eoin O Mahoney, Liam Shorten, Sean Kiely and plenty other very good footballers.
They are a great outlet for let’s say the best lads from Jumior clubs like Kilmichael and Clondrohid to play senior. On the flip side alot is expected if the likes of Goulding and the likes and it’s a bit too much.

Interesting. Must be divisive though. some club members who have their best players away with county and divisional sides cant be happy.
It’s not too bad. There has been clubs who have refused selection for a year, but it’s always come from the players as a "we’re concentrating in ourselves kinda thing.
It can carry divisions like Duhallow and Beara who are very united, Imokilly were also like that in football in 80’s and hurling in 90’s.
Generally though its not that much if a hindrance to club players. It’s the county players who take a big burden.
I don’t know was it unbelievable commitment and pride or just obligation, but I was taken aback when involved back then by the attendance of Tom Kenny and Noel O 'Leary, Kenny turne up for training one Saturday evening just to be there with a league game for Cork hurlers next day. Noel never missed anything.

Im not surprised to hear that. Commitment and humility are characteristics of great players and more importantly great people.

Apparently that Lee Murphy lad was a recent Minor/U-21 player for Wexford. Was he playing for your lot last year Mickee?
Also, the Rockies and Na Piarsigh both beaten in the opening round of Minor Hurling today, by Duhallow and Ballincollig respectively.
Presumably it’s Lee Murphy of Faythe Harriers then. My memory is gone to fuck - can’t remember if he was playing for the Harriers last year or not but think he was. Never knew he moved to be honest.

Astonishing. That Ballincollig team couldn’t field at u16. Imagine a town of that size with one club not fielding. To be At this level now is remarkable.
